Super Low Beta - So Frustrating :( - 3/21 Final Update - Ectopic
Got the call from my nurse and she said unfortunately she's not calling with good news. The beta is 7.8 but because it is technically positive they want me to go back in 48 hours to recheck it. She told me to continue my meds (estrace and PIO). I think this is delaying the inevitable but of course would love a miracle.
We transferred one 5 day blast on 3/1 which I think would've been considered 6DPO making today 15DPO.
UGH!
3/12 - Beta is 17.8, still very low :(. I'm again supposed to continue my meds and go back on Monday for another beta. I have a new vial of PIO to start which I was hoping we wouldn't have to open for this. Apparently if opened and unused for over 30 days it should be discarded. I'm almost at the point where I just want this to be over already so we can move on. Stinks! Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers!
3/14 - Beta came back at a 26.4. As much as we would have loved a miracle I was almost a little relieved that it didn't double again for it to only drag this on even longer. As of Saturday I was starting to accept that this wasn't normal. I knew the beta would have had to have risen significantly these past few times to catch up to where it should be. I hate beta hell and I'm finally starting to get a little closure. I had a long discussion with my doctor and she was great. I go back Thursday to see if the number has started to drop (still instructed to stay on meds until it drops). We have a tentative plan in place for our next try in April and are trying to stay hopeful for that! I told her the way I'm looking at it is I'm happy we're in the schedule for April and if anything with this taking a bit longer it just means less time I have to be on birth control (which makes me feel crazy). I've had some time to process this which has helped me to feel okay about it. Sad we won't have a baby in 2016 but hopefully it will happen soon after! Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers!
3/17 - Got the call from my nurse that today's beta is a 94. They are worried about ectopic since it's still going up. They want me to go in for more blood work on Saturday (because I may have to do the methotrexate shot) and also a scan to see if they can see anything and if/where the embryo is. I'm still supposed to continue my meds. I'm pretty stressed and nervous. I was hoping my beta would go down and I would get my period on my own. I just want this to be over so we can try again and now it's continuing and not ending well. I don't have any pain, they told me to call if anything bothers me. I don't have any experience with ectopics and am starting to get really worried  .
3/19 - Beta is at 210. I hate how they're nicely doubling but we're a whole week behind ugh! There's was nothing on the scan of course. They finally told me to stop my meds and come back on Monday for repeat beta and scan. They said if my numbers are still going up they will want me to do the shot. I want to give it more time than that but they're worried that if it is ectopic and gets too big it may burst and "it can be fatal". I've read that a scan from a radiology lab can show more, I may suggest that. I'd rather not do anything drastic until we know exactly where it is. I'm praying my numbers will go down a little by Monday. I kind of wished they stop my meds sooner. I feel so angry at the doctors even though I know it's not they're fault. :(
3/21 - Beta went up to 426. During the scan the doctor saw what looked to be a small sac next to my left ovary. She said that's how it would show up on the scan if it's in the tube. They couldn't 100% confirm ectopic but were certain that I should take the methotrexate shot. Seeing that abnormal sac on the screen reassured DH and I that taking the shot was the best next step. My doctor answered all our questions and then my nurse administered it to me. Hopefully it does what it's supposed to and we will be back on the schedule in late June. Thanks for all the support these past few weeks  .

UGH!
You're 14DPO today. Try not to focus on the number. You should have more answers in 2 days. Sometimes IVF embies take a little longer to implant.

Beta hell is never fun. I had low betas twice but they never rose. Hoping you get more answers with your next beta. Hang in there.
