Taking care of....down there

Hi ladies. Sorry for the subject matter, but inquiring minds have to ask....

While you are pregnant (especially in the later months) how did you groom yourself down there? I've heard of sugar waxing...(never tried it). Putting my shoes on it hard right now, so I can't imagine doing much myself.

Any suggestions/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I just shaved as normal. I didn't seem to have a problem reaching anything that needed to be reached.

I have an electric buzzer. It's really gentile so I didn't have any issues doing it myself. If I did I would have just asked Shaun to help.

I've tried electric buzzers....can I ask what kind you use? The ones I have tried either don't work too well or hurt too much.

I get bikini waxes at European Wax Center. I had laser treatment done years ago and was basically hairless (a few here and there) for years and BAM pregnancy brought my hair back. I just feel so much cleaner waxing and am not a fan of shaving.

Any reason in particular you are interested in sugar waxing vs other waxing? The pain of waxing isn't that bad for me, nor was laser. I just figure it all helps prepare for the pain of childbirth Chat Icon

Same. It's getting harder to see, so it probably looks terrible. But I'm sure these doctor's have pretty much seen it all. Chat Icon

Chat Icon I know! I considered putting a chair in the shower the other day to make it easier. But that was too much work! Chat Icon

Regular razor... At one point I bought a shave mirror but after using it for 10 seconds and realizing it was pointless, I just blindly shaved and prayed Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm not sure why sugar waxing over the other kinds...it's just what I heard.

I appreciate all of your responses!!

And you're totally right - these doctors have probably seen everything!!Chat Icon

I made a waxing appt for 3 days before my c-section date cause things were not pretty down there. I went into labor 5 days before so there went that. I was apologizing on the operating table and my OB and the nurses were laughing at me.

funny, I have been a bit lazy about it, but anyway went to use my electric razor, Since I can't see figured at least I can hurt myself with it lol, and it died half way through lmao. I can only imagine what it looks like lmao. Then it took me a few days to remember to charge it up, just looked at it today and it didn't charge b/c it wasn't on the charger right lmao. I'm a mess. This is my 3rd. I don't really care anymore lmao

Going to warn you---waxing after shaving may be painful the first time. But the good news is, you do it once and you are set!

Make sure the hair is long enough when you get it waxed! If you've shaved recently, they may not be able to wax you.

This. I did what I could when shaving the pubic area. In my 9th month, I just said screw it and whatever was there, was there.

Haha, I definitely didn't take out a ruler but I had shaved part of it the week before I waxed the first time and the woman said those hairs weren't long enough. But I googled it for you (at work, let's hope nobody is watching my google searches Chat Icon )

The ideal length is about a centimetre - but anything half a centimetre or more should work fine. If the hair is longer, just leave it and we will quickly clipper it down before waxing, to the correct length. As a guide, if you shave leave about 3 weeks without shaving before your wax appointment.

Ok so honestly it was terrible! I'm traumatized lol. The girl swore to me that it isn't normally this bad it's just because I'm pregnant but there were points where I thought of giving up. She said to not shave for about 3 weeks I did have some areas where the hair was too short.

Okay SOO I would say that the next time you go it would be easier (if there is a next time). 1. When you are pregnant, your hair is stronger--so it doesn't want to come out! 2. It's always worse after you shave. The first time I got waxed after shaving was painful but then the hair changes texture (it's much finer when you wax) and waxing becomes easier.

That said, waxing is definitely less painful when you aren't pregnant. Hands down. Oh! And when you aren't pregnant, you can take advil to help the pain! We don't really have that option right now!
