talk to me about naps
dd is almost 6 months. she isn't on a consistent nap schedule. we basically follow her cues and when she is cranky/tired we put her down. it can vary from day to day. bed time is consistent at 730 every night. how important is it for her to be on a nap schedule? should i start putting her down for naps at certain times? or keep doing what we've been doing and following her cues? dd was colicky so the first few months were TOUGH. what does everyone else do?

talk to me about naps
I follow my dd cues. Shes very consistent though in the number of naps and length of the naps. Shes down to 2 naps 1 hour each. Since she was a baby i just followed her and never had an issue. If i try to force her to nap at a certain time she wont sleep shell just fight it and cry. Why give nyself the headache. Her bedtime is consistent so i dont see the harm.

Re: talk to me about naps
DD is just about 5.5 months. I follow cues but I watch the clock too. DD seems to go down after 2-2.5 hours of awake time. Sometimes if I wait for the cues (yawn and scratching eyes) she gets overtired and goes into a crazy screaming rage and it is hard to calm her so I try to put her down close to the 2 hour time frame as possible. She does cry for about 5 min after I put her down but then falls fast asleep. If she starts crying hard then I go rescue her and try a nap later on or in her swing.
She does 3 one hour naps a day. Sometimes they are shorter like 30-45 min but she is usually refreshed and may do a lil longer nap later on.

talk to me about naps
DS is 6 mos old and def loves his sleep, his bed time is now consistently 8pm but he still takes a morning nap for at least 2 hours and an afternoon nap of about an hour - 2 hours and he sleeps anywhere from 12-13 hours a night

talk to me about naps
My DS is 15 months and he was never on a schedule. At 12 months daycare switche him to one nap and its generally just after lunch but that changes. If I forced a nap we are all unhappy

Re: talk to me about naps
I follow DD's cues. She is 9 months old and still usually takes 3 naps per day. After 2 - 2.5 hours, she needs a nap. She tends to have one general schedule at daycare, one at MIL's, and one with me and DH. It's not even necessarily consistent in those settings though. Her bedtime is consistent within 30 minutes or so.Even if she takes a late nap and wakes up at 6:30, she will be rubbing her eyes and ready to sleep at 7:30.

Re: talk to me about naps
With dc #1, he was on a set schedule & it worked great for us! No fighting on his part. It just worked for us. With dc #2, we usually follow his cues but he seems to get tierd around the same time every day. He isn't on as strict of a time schedule though.

Re: talk to me about naps
My DD was the exact same way - colicky and everything. Daycare put her on a nap schedule at a year. Up until then from about 7-9 months she was consistently taking a morning and afternoon nap, but the times varied. At a year they put her down for naps at 12pm, so she dropped to one nap instead of two.

Re: talk to me about naps
My twins have always been on a schedule, but there are 2 of them and they share a room. If I was ever going to get anything done ever they needed to be on the same schedule. I'm not sure what I would have done if I had one at a time this is all we know. but it is nice knowing what to expect from day to day

Re: talk to me about naps
DS has always been on a schedule. At 6 months he went down around 9:30/10am for 2 hours and again around 2pm for 2 hours. He goes to bed by 7/7:30pm

Re: talk to me about naps
dd is 7 1/2 months. non set schedule although its usually 3 hours after she wakes up in the morn. and then about 3-4 hours after she wakes up from the 1st nap. she will nap anywhere form 30min to 1 1/2 hours. its usually 30 min in the morning and the afternoon will be longer. she does not sttn and bedtime varies between 7:30-8:30. just follow her cues. it depends on how late she woke up from the last nap

Re: talk to me about naps
Same as you - I follow her cues for nap but bedtime is consistent.
Some days she takes three 2hr naps, some days she takes two power naps.
