target vent & ?
so, i bought a coworker a small gift for xmas from there...originally priced $10...i bought it on sale for $8....i gave it to him and it was missing a piece....so he returned it before xmas and it wasn't on sale anymore.....he just wanted to do an even exchange and or get get the piece that was missing....
they told him that he would get store credit for $8 and have to pay the difference b/c it wasn't on sale anymore....when he told me this i was annoyed....why wouldn't they just even exhange it....i didn't think that was right....do they always do this.....(btw, it's not about the $ b/c it was inexpensive but more about the principle of it,kwim?) he didn't have my receipt...not sure if that would matter though?

That's absolutely absurd! I've never heard of paying the difference between retail and sale price.

That's horrible. It's not like he was returning it and trying to get the $10 back. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't do an even exchange

same thing happened to me.
DH got me a coat from Macys. He paid 40. It was too big so I wanted a smaller size. We were at the mall and I realized I forgot my receipt.
They said they would give me the depreciated value and I could rebuy the jacket. They wanted to give me $8 for the jacket and apply that to the sales price.
It turns out they could look up sales by CC/DC information.
But still, the same jacket, same color, going from a XL to a Large and I have to pay for it?

next time i go in i am going to complain!
i just don't get it, like the pp said he wasn't asking for the $....if anything, they should be accomodating b/c their product was incomplete......and was an inconvenience to have to make a trip there!

how ridiculous!....that's terrible! from 40 to $8...that's crazy!!
