Tattoo placement question - back/neck area
Anyone have a tattoo high up on their back, in the middle? How high up did you go and do you wear necklaces?
I'm thinking the best placement would be just below where a necklace would rest so it doesn't detract from the ink. But so it could be seen above a shirt collar.
Pics would be VERY helpful also. THANK YOU!

Re: Tattoo placement question - back/neck area
wait you think that a necklace will basically rub off the ink if it's there all of the time?

I think she is saying so that you can see the full effect of the tattoo w/ out a necklace chain running through it.

Re: Tattoo placement question - back/neck area
I would suggest putting a necklace on and see where it falls on your body.
Usually they sit high on the neck near the hair line so I wouldn't think you'd have a problem with a tattoo on your back. I think you would have a problem if you were to put the tat on your neck.
As for placement, I would recommend sitting with your tattoo artist and working it out with him (or her).

Jessica has it right. Detract as in draw attention away from. I know tattoos are forever and don't rub off.

I plan on it, and getting pictures too since it's not so easy for me to visualize it! I have an appt tonight for the prelim non-permanent drawing, but seeing as there are so many inked women here, I thought I'd ask.

Re: Tattoo placement question - back/neck area
I don't have a tattoo in the place you are requested pics/advice on.
But one thing I will say, I've always preferred tattoos to be located where, if needed, can be completely concealed.

Totally forgot you have a tattoo! I did a quick search, you've got looooots of pictures.
I remember you had a thread though, I'll look for it there instead.

I never said she HAD to put it where it could be concealed if needed. I was just simply voicing my opinion on where I would put it if I were her....which, if you read her OP she was asking for others opinions.

Kimmie, please don't turn this an argument for your benefit. Although I've disagreed with you on LIW about things, I have tried to treat you with respect when I reply to your threads here. Please do the same with me and this thread and just let it go.
Jess, I have been growing my hair long so that I can have it all in a ponytail at once. Because I'll surely be working outside a lot this summer, I'll probably keep it this length for convenience's sake. That would make it fairly easy to keep it from view if I wanted to.
Shorty, I found your tat picture (very cool btw), yours is much lower than I was thinking. Believe it or not, what started me thinking of the high back area was Brad Pitt in Oceans Eleven. He has a tattoo that juuuust peeks out of his collar a little and it made me wonder what else was there that I couldn't see. I like that idea, so I was thinking pretty high, where you could just see the top of it unless I'm wearing a tank.

dude, seriously? let it go. some people get tats for themselves, not for everyone to see. you have sleeves, I don't . it's as simple as that.

Re: Tattoo placement question - back/neck area
I do not have any on my neck, but I hate when I wear straps that cover my shoulders, so I guess what I am saying is wear a few different necklaces and see where your "safe zone" is and work from there with your artist. Did that make sense??
And I totally want to see pictures when you get it done

You're picking a fight, as you have in the past. I'm asking you nicely to just stop. Because this is not about you. Just stop, please? If you can't stop, FM me instead.

That's a good suggestion, because although I do wear one necklace regularly, I do have others. Thanks.
I'll definitely post pics, I don't think anyone would be able to stop me.
I just got a call that I'll have to reschedule for tomorrow night so I can take pictures of my back tonight to get an idea.

I have no advice on the tats but I want you to know that I should be near the top of your email list once you take pics of the new tat.

What I'm getting is being kept under wraps right now... I know it sounds weird but I don't want to put it out there till it's done.
I will say that it's four inches high and probably at least three inches wide.

And if what you are getting does not fit the area that you are getting it, the tattoo artist should let you know that.
