Same happened with us. We got a bill soon after we closed. we had so many new bills I wasn't about to take on another one  the old owner was forced to pay it. We were made to pay for the oil they left in the tank at closing , so I didn't feel too bad not paying it.

We had to pay for the oil too but that was in the contact. It seems like he was just trying to put one over on us but it's not going to work lol.

I believe that's the norm.
It is the norm. Its one if the adjustment made at closing.
