Teaching your child ignorance

Let me preface this by saying that I am a Plus sized girl, have been my whole life and Im used to stares or being made fun of. I am currently doing a "biggest losers challenge" with my job and Im proud to say that I have lost 30.2 pounds since January 1st.

This morning Im in Stop & Shop to get some fruit before work. This POS woman is in the produce section like I am with her two children that could not have been more than 10 years old. She was verbally shoving down their throats that they have to eat only organic foods. She would point to something and say we can only eat this because its organic! Only organic! If its not organic we cant eat it!

So the little boy picks up a tray of strawberries and asks "These Mommy?".
She snatched them out of his hands and was like "These are not oragnic! Are you paying attention to me? Do you know what happens when you dont eat organic fruit?". She points to me and says "You end up looking like her!". For the first time in my life I was speechless. I just looked at her with my mouth wide open so she saw that I heard her and turned and walked away.

I am totally fine that she wants her kids to eat healthy but WOW! To treat an utter stranger with such disrespect is just disgusting!

Good for you for losing the weight!!!! I'm in the middle of my own weight loss challenge. Mind sharing your secret? I have a lot to lose.

First of all congratulations on your weight loss. Great job!

Shame on that lady. Let's hope her children grow up to be decent human beings despite her. Im sorry you were hurt by her words and actions.

It is fine to teach your children about good eating habits, but there are ways to do it. Fanatical cruelty isn't one of them.

Oh my. You should have told her children they should eat organic food or they'd grow up to be ignorant like her...and pointed at her.

Ugh! I too am plus sized and have dealt with what you have mentioned [stares, etc.] my entire life. But, regarding what happened today... I must say, you have a lot more class that I do because I would have gone right up to that woman and her kids and told her to go fuuck herself.

Congrats on your 30+ pound loss! What an awesome accomplishment. Next time you see this evil woman at the supermarket, run over her foot with your cart.

I am a big girl too and I dont know what I would have done. I dont know what I would have done if my son would have sead that about anyone. What is wrong with that mother. Did she put are kid in it place.

Some people just don't know when to keep their mouths shut. You are a better person then me because I would have smacked her and said "That is what happens when mommies say mean things to nice people"

Or at least that is what would have run through my mind!

Oh I think I would have decked her!! And yes she would have pointed at me!!

I can't believe the ignorance -- today my sis and I were talking about Trader Joe's organic waffles -- they have a TON of calories. So just goes to show how stupid that woman is.

Congrats to you on your weight loss -- be proud of yourself and glad you aren't an ignoramus like her. And, I loved Palebride's reply!
