Temporal Artery or Ear Thermometer?
I have the Vick's 10 second digital rectal thermometer which I LOVE. Easy to use, accurate, etc.
Since I take DS's temperature SO often when he's running a fever, I want to get another type besides rectal so I can take more easily.
Which type do you recommend? DS is almost 11 months.

I have both.
I use the temporal more often.
At first i used to take a rectal and the temporal to compare and they matched almost every time

I have a temporal artery and an ear therm... I never use the ear one any more.. it gave me different readings every time and it took too long.. the temporal one is fast and easy and always gives the same readings.

we have the vicks rectal and love it too. I have an ear thermometer that is always giving me way different readings, so NOT accurate. I am going to buy a temporal one.

Have the temporal and hate it. To me it was a waste of $50. I use the vicks rectal and it's terrific.

I have the temporal artery one and it always gives different readings. I use it sort of like a screening and if the temp comes out a little high I verify with the rectal.

I stopped using the rectal thermometer around 7 or 8 months i think. There was no way DS was letting me use that thing. I use the ear one and just know in the back of my mind, it may be off by a degree or so.

My Ped recommended the ear over the temporal b/c it is more accurate.
She recommended the Braun Thermoscan.
