There is so much about Texas and the current political environment. The Lt. Governor blaming blacks for the spike in Covid cases after blaming the migrants. The election bill because of fraud that never happened. Abbott's veto of the dog law. The continued perpetuation of the Big Lie. Ted Cruz.

Re: Texas
Between this, the voter suppression laws, and the new gun law, there are really some sick f!cks there.
I've made some donations and and looking to see what else can be done to fight against this.
I have single friend a bit younger than me in Texas. She'd like to leave but has a well paying job. She is going to see if she can be permanently remote so she can get out. I will offer her financial help if necessary. I don't want anyone I care about living there with what's going on.

It’s really something that we as Americans claim to be sooooo concerned for the women in Afghanistan because of Sharia law, but we allow this in our “free” country.

Because women need to be controlled to some degree. I’d like to know where the person who provides the sperm falls into all of this.
This topic is so infuriating.

It is. On so many levels. Women are constantly punished in our society but we look down on other places.
Why can’t rapists and those who commit sexual assault be castrated? Oh because that would mean taking ownership over their body. But its cool to have a woman keep her rapists baby. Nice.

What is even more frightening is the Supreme Court and how this law was passed. The use of the Shadow Docket is downright frightening and how it is being used. What is this country coming to?

The best part is all the people on this board who go on and on about how horrifying mask and vaccine mandates are because it infringes on personal freedom, but silence when it comes to this, a far greater threat to America's freedoms than anything COVID related.

Yup! More so the upset at covering your nostrils with some cloth is awful, but someone forcing a woman to carry a pregnancy is a-OK.
Oh and let’s not forget about the financial aspect of it. Pull yourselves up by the bootstraps because you “opened your legs” and the father is no longer around.
Six weeks is not acceptable, especially the way they calculate it by the last period date. A lot of women do not know or are still debating what to do.
I would like to know how they will be assessing the 6 week date. Will there be a witness for a heartbeat or will they simply go by the first day of the last period?
And the 10,000$ part is sickening. Sickening.

For the record I think this is horrifying but I am also against mandating a brand new vaccine. It's not one or the other. It's not black and white, all or nothing. I don't exist in a political vacuum. In fact, my opinions on matters are just that MY opinions and not dictated by a political party or what one party believes. I actually hate politics and think both parties are awful.

I am adamantly against a vaccine mandate. I think it is 1000% wrong. I am in support of a mask mandate though. It's not all or nothing. My point was, and I didn't didn't have you in mind at all when I posted this, is that people on here go on and on about how super cool awesome Texas is because they don't have any covid restrictions and their precious pumpkin won't have to wear a piece of cloth over their face. But something like this happens and they say not one word. Let's protect a ball of cells that's not even a viable human being, but screw protecting kids with a mask. I should have clarified- because I agree on the vaccines. I am pro vaccine for myself and my family but do not believe it should be forced on anyone.

Understood, and I get it. And I agree with you. I just feel like everything is so divisive in this country right now. So much us against them. Like anyone who isn't wearing a mask while fully vaccinated must be a Republican and must be anti abortion and anti gun laws etc. Anyone who doesn't want vaccines mandated or want to rush out to vaccinate their young child must be a science denying anti vaxer who thinks the vaccine is a tracking device of the government. It's insane. That is really why I never chose a political party. There are things I agree with and disagree with in both parties. My opinions on the important issues never go straight down party lines.

Yes! And apparently Florida wants to follow suit. Infuriating.
The amount of people on these boards that say they want to move to Texas and Florida is mine boggling. Those are two of the most backward moving states in our country.
But like you said…Heaven forbid little Tommy and Suzy have to wear a mask!

I wonder if people even realize the element where anyone can be sued by anyone else for assisting in any way possible.
For example, I can be living in Michigan and decide I want to sue the person who drove a woman to get an abortion. I can opt to sue the person who took care of an woman who had an abortion. I can sue the girl who simply works at the front desk!
And not just Florida.. North Dakota, South Dakota, Mississippi, Indiana, Arkansas and Florida all have Republicans who are eyeing similar measures.

I understand that concept, but I think the person who assists has to be doing that in Texas.
How is that possible (your Michigan example) under law because doesn't that fall under state law and not federal law?
Edit: I may have misread your example. I thought you said if you assist someone from another state. So someone helps from Michigan.
But still how does that all work with state law? Because I saw something fly around about plan C pills.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant to say that anyone in the nation can just decide to sue anyone in Texas for assisting a woman in any way.
