Another thing: there was a HOTLINE created for “whistleblowers” to report anyone simply helping women who are having an abortion.

We are all on our way to Sharia law in Republican states.

I wonder if people even realize the element where anyone can be sued by anyone else for assisting in any way possible.

For example, I can be living in Michigan and decide I want to sue the person who drove a woman to get an abortion. I can opt to sue the person who took care of an woman who had an abortion. I can sue the girl who simply works at the front desk!

And not just Florida..
North Dakota, South Dakota, Mississippi, Indiana, Arkansas and Florida all have Republicans who are eyeing similar measures.

I understand that concept, but I think the person who assists has to be doing that in Texas.

How is that possible (your Michigan example) under law because doesn't that fall under state law and not federal law?

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant to say that anyone in the nation can just decide to sue anyone in Texas for assisting a woman in any way.

I edited above, but here it is again:

Edit: I may have misread your example. I thought you said if you assist someone from another state. So someone helps from Michigan.

But still how does that all work with state law? Because I saw something fly around about plan C pills.

According to the Vox podcast I just listened to, they aren’t sure just yet. It hasn’t been tested (yet.)

The whole concept is so horrifying to me.

The interesting thing is that this type of overreach could further turn Texas purple.

And yeah, I don’t like identity politics but this is so tied in with Republicanism. Trump appointed Republican judges and claims to be pro life. This is a result.

A complete ban at 6 weeks. Many women don’t even know they are pregnant at 6 weeks.

I also saw GoDaddy dropped a Tex abortion tracking site.

And young kids started to blast the reporting hotline on social media and sharing it. They were calling and tying them up with nonsense. I’m sometimes hopeful for the youth of this country.

You know what kills me about these backward thinking, hypocritical assholes? They are so concerned about the "heartbeat", but what about the "heartbeart" of the girl or woman who's raped?? That "heartbeat" doesn't matter??? It's infuriating.

Yup. They don't really even care about the heartbeat in the womb or there would have been at least the mention of the father of these heartbeats...but there is no mention
It's about control and making females less then.

The thing I find most frightening about the law in Texas, is a man can rape a woman, impregnate her, and then sue anyone who helps her to get an abortion and actually get the $10k.

They don’t care. These are the same legislators who will not provide adequate resources for the mother AFTER the baby is born. Life matters until the mother has no money to support the child. Then it turns into that mother needing a government handout and they’re all up in arms about that.

This law is disgusting.

I always think about my friend who had an abortion freshman year of college. She was obviously in no position to have a child then. They used protection, but she still got pregnant. I’m glad she had options.

You could RAPE a woman, and then sue anyone that helps her get an abortion, because she doesn’t want to carry her rapists child.

Okay, just like women getting voluntary abortions after 15/20 weeks is extremely rare, so is abortion because of rape. Rape and incest related pregnancies account for less than 1% of all abortions performed in the United States. And then to go so far to say that someone who is raped and then seeks an abortion and is prevented from doing so by her assailant is just too far fetched.

I understand that people are upset about this bill however getting into hysterics about something that would be EXTREMELY unlikely is not going to help reverse this bill.

fair enough but im on the fence about mandates i can see both sides but I am not even talking just about the vaccine.

my point is if you are making that big of a deal about how wearing masks and getting vaccinated is such a violation of rights (which i am not while i rather it not be im not being dramatic about it) how can anyone sit here and say this bill isnt!!

i have seen so many great come backs to this bill.

why arent we making men get vasectomy's so we can prevent unwanted pregancy. why do we pay for viargra for men but dont have enough support for unwanted babies.

this law is flawed in so many ways and only hold the women accountable when it takes 2 people to create a baby.

This is something I have always found interesting. It is fine to say that safe and accessible abortions might be necessary to our society, but I think it's strange to say that life doesn't begin at conception with all we know now through science. Obviously the life of the fetus depends on the life of the mother as well, but the fetus is clearly a living thing. Women's rights and the right to not want to host that life in your body is a different argument. So my point is, if it is against my rights to not want to have a fetus in body (one which by the way I most likely played a part in putting there in the first place) then certainly it is within my rights to not have to put a vaccine in my body.

First of all, wearing a mask vs. a vaccine are two very different things. One can possibly harm you where the other most likely does not.

Men getting vasectomy's is not a comeback argument at all. It doesn't even make sense. Not even remotely. Neither does the viagra comment.

I’m not really interested in a pro-life/choice debate, and I get what you are saying.

Deciding in what is viable is the issue of concern. It is within my rights to decide what is done with my body with regards to public health. If something is in my body (to me a ball of cells) that I do not want, it affects no one. If if I decide not to get a vaccine, then that affects public health to some degree (viral load, the public health Systeme, etc.).

And from there, I see a difference.

If you do any research you will see that even at the 6 week mark, a fetus is not just a ball of cells. I understand that you have never had children or undergone fertility treatments so perhaps that is what gives you the impression that it is just a ball of cells but I can assure you past the first few of weeks it is actually much more than that. I am just speaking scientifically. Once it moves past the blastocyst stage it's really no longer a "ball of cells" and that occurs at around 3 weeks after fertilization.

As for the public health issue - I think that you can go so far as to require people to wear masks, require people to quarantine and require people to test for diseases however I do not believe that people should be forced to inject something into their body that they are not comfortable with because of a public health issue.

I agree.

Also, abortion has gone from “safe, legal and rare” to “I’m not putting hormones in my body and I’m allergic to condoms.” It has literally become a form of birth control.
The stats provided for rape and incest are an extraordinarily small part of the picture used to deter people from the truth.
