Re: The 17 day diet

Quick update - I started this diet yesterday and while I did find the afternoon hard I lost 2lbs!!!!!!!!

SO happy...I know its water weight and it could come back etc etc but if I can keep going in this vein then maybe I can keep ahead of the weight gain and jump start my weight loss.

Note: I am not exercising due to an injury.

Re: The 17 day diet

So at the end of Day 2 it was definitely easier than yesterday. I dont feel as hungry today and I think it was because I added half a boiled egg to my lunch - you can only eat 2 whole eggs per week so I am being stingy with my eggs!!

I hope to have moved the scales even a little bit more in the morning.

I think you misread it, my book says no mor than 2 eggs per day, not week. Only If you have high cholesterol no more than 4 whole eggs per week. Egg whites are unrestricted. I have an omelette almost every day with 1 egg and 2 whites, today is day 14 and I'm down 8 lbs...

Re: The 17 day diet

I started yesterday and am down 6lbs in water weight! (4 were put on the last 2 weeks) I couldn't even finish all my food! I am 1 lb away from my last plateau weight of 138 where I've been stuck for months. 10lbs away from my goal!

Re: The 17 day diet

Mrs213- thank you...I am going to have to READ it instead of scanning it...that will make it so much easier as I can have a boiled egg with my salad for lunch. You are doing great!!! I was wondering how you were doing as I know you have been on this longer than my and I am kind of scared that I will just drop say 5lbs and that will be it!!!

I was down another 2 lbs this morning so thats 4lb in 2 days!!! if I could lose 10lbs I would be SO happy as I have been unable to get a pound off in the past year....once I get the first 10lbs off then I will go for the next 10lbs and then I will be THRILLED.

Thanks againChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Tomorrow starts my first day of cycle 2. So far I've lost 9lbs- I'm leery of reintroducing carbs, I'll have to think harder about what to eat...

Thank you so much, yes I did cheat on thanksgiving. I had 2 rather small glasses of wine, and I ate sugar free apple pie after 2. I believe I had a tortilla chip here or there (organic blackbean ones they keep at work) on th days I was really hungry I did have an extra salad, yogurt or a fruit (at night which was not supposed to)

Dr. Mike says even if you follow the plan only 60 or 80% you're still doing better than you were before so that helped put things in perspectiveChat Icon

No milk, but I don't really drink it. You can have soy milk though - unsweetened

Mine is supposed to arrive on Monday.

I have a question for those who are on the diet already....just so I can mentally prepare myselfChat Icon .....is coffee a no-no? If you can have it, what are you allowed to put in it?

You can have coffee, you just can't count it towards your water intake. I used silk soy creamer

For cycle 1 I mostly ate different types of salads either with tuna or chicken. When I got a little bored of salads I made this and added some broccoli to change it up a bit. It's a recipe from the book. I just used chicken instead of fish

INGREDIENTS

* 1 pound of tilapia

* 2 tablespoons olive oil

* 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

* 2 tablespoons light soy sauce

* 1 tablespoon chopped garlic

* 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

DIRECTIONS
Spray a broiler pan with vegetable oil spray to prevent fish from sticking. Place tilapia. Whisk together olive oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce and garlic until well blended. Pour over fish. Sprinkle sesame seeds over fish. Broil at medium heat about eight inches away from heat for about 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Makes 4 servings.

Re: The 17 day diet

I am starting tomorrow. I am due to receive the book on Monday but I found enough information to get started without it.

Today I stocked up on chicken short cuts, eggs, egg white containers, plain greek yogurts, soy milk for coffee, plenty of the recommended veggies, citrus fruits, apples and berries. Ready to roll tomorrow!
