Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"

I finally caught this the other night.
My impression of Daniel and Jay and their 'denial' is that it's more about clearing their names than clearing Diane's. Because once they admit they knew she drank/smoke, they are also liable for what happened.
I also feel Daniel is a real POS. Not once did he express sadness over the loss of his daughter or his wife or his 3 nieces or what his son has gone through. He was more upset with Diane for leaving him as a single parent (when he didn't want to be a parent in the first place). P. O. S.
agreed! I didnt hear him utter Erin's name ONCE.

I searched on facebook for The Hance Foundation, found it but I also decided to search Jay and her son. Both are not private on facebook. You can read their walls. Dont even know why I am sharing this but it just makes the situation even more real.
I think it's really weird that their pages aren't private. Given their public profile, you'd think they'd lock it down.
I have also found the links. I have NOT read through the 15 pages of posts here on LIF.
Can someone fill me in as to WHO Jay and her son are, and how they fit in the puzzle? Who are they to Diane?

Jay is married to Daniels brother. So she is Daniel and Diane's sister in law.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I finally watched this weekend and the whole thing is such a horrible, nonsensical, tragic $hitshow in every imagineable way.
Daniel seems awful... Diane's "friends" who haven't spoken to her in a decade but had no problem going on camera seem like real dirtbags... Jay is just a meddling trainwreck...
I wish they'd all just fade away and let everyone rest in peace.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
someone posted this a few pages back, too.
jackie and warren hance are the only ones being... i dunno what word to use.... "classy?" about this whole tragedy.
why a documentary? why a book with a website? why keep dragging out the pain and grief in such a public way?
do something that's going to make a difference, something that's going to do something good... like the hance family foundation.

DH and I watched it last night. And while I was prepared for the picture of her body at the end, it still really disturbed me. There was no reason to show it. Also, at the end when Jay was reading that card, she said it was to Evan. Who's Evan?

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I know this is old...but I too recently have been researching this accident. My husband took our 7 yr old son and 11 yr old daughter swimming one night 2 wks after my father died in 1997. He went to the swimming area of a lake he wasn't familiar familiar with. Deciding not to go by the house to get their life jackets. A man with a job at one of the largest gas and oil co. In the US who wouldn't start a car until all seat belts were on failed his children, himself and his family that night. He and our son drowned in front of our daughter that night. She was screaming for help alone on the shore and luckily knew not to go in the water after them. I knew immediately she would suffer from survivors guilt but did everything I could including counseling to help her as much as possible. I had two other children who were teens at the time. It was hard but we made it. I worry so about Bryan for all of the reasons everyone has green discussing. I wish there were more followup information about how he is and what has happened within that family since. Denial can KiLL. Like with Diane, the person I could sue or have arrested died too. And I struggled with wishing to go back in time to san and I felt it again when I saw this documentary. Thanks for letting me share. If anyone has more info please share it

I am so sorry for all of your pain and suffering and loss. It must be so hard to not be able to make sense of something so tragic.
