"There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
Are you going to watch it tomorrow night?
I am kind of torn.
I have to admit that I am very curious to see what Daniel Schuler's side has to say but the story is so horrific that I don't know if I can sit through it.
It is on HBO at 9pm.

I went to elementary school and high school with Diane and still cant come to terms with the events of that day.
Jackie and Warren are the strongest people I've ever met. To see what they have done with the Hance Family Foundation is unbelievable. Come to Centennial Gardens in Floral Park next spring for Hance Family Fun Day and see thousands of people honoring Emma, Alyson and Kate's memory. . . and having a great time.
Please keep them in your prayers - Jackie's baby is due in the fall.

I agree with the title but I think that was hbo's call. But I can see how the husband would think he's doing the right thing. Id think he's doing it for his son somehow. I will be watching it.

If I had HBO I might have just out of curiousity but I am not behind him either.
I always thought and always will think that he knew his wife drank and smoke. There is NO way living with someone (and being with them all that weekend) you don't know that.

I worked with her (not closely in the more recent years) and I have to say I am curious about it, I did find the whole thing shocking but also I do think he covering up for her, I guess I am curious to see how far he is really taking it.

Maybe I just have to watch it and find out, but I'm confused as to what Diane's husband is trying to say-- that the toxicology report is flat out wrong? That it was done incorrectly? If he's trying to say it is incorrect, is he saying it was analyzed incorrectly? Or is he trying to say there was some malfeasance (purposeful wrongdoing) on the part of the coroner’s office?
Does he want us to believe that she wasn't drunk and high?

why am i still watching this? i was disgusting from the beginning when they were playing and showing the girls' funeral and warren hance speaking and crying. now they're showing pictures of diane schuler's dead body at the scene?!?!?!?!!? WHHHAAAAT THE F?? these poor witnesses that pulled the girls and those men from the cars...i can't imagine having those images burned into my head forever
her husband is nuts if he thinks he is going to find some other explanation other than pot and alcohol. he's trying to somehow blame her tooth abscess?

I cannot even imagine. And when they showed the pictures of her dead, I almost threw up. Was not expecting that.
That poor little boy, on top of everything else, now knows that his father didn't want kids. Nice.
I don't know what possessed her to do what she did, I dont believe it was by accident because how would the marijuana be explained then? We will never know.

I agree. Shocked to see pictures of her lying there dead. Dh was ready to change the station thinking they would show the children too. Thank God they did not but still. How can you allow your wife to be shown like that?
I dont buy that she did NOT smoke pot that weekend. Just dont buy it at all. Not sure what was going on....she probably had some kind of pain on the ride home, looked for advile or tylenol, couldnt find it so she resorted to her old standbys....and consumed more than she should have quickly due to the kids in the car.
But still, what kind of pain could she have that was that bad that she had to drink and drive or smoke up? And her pain was that bad but no one around her knew that she was suffering?
I dont know what to make of this but I dont buy she didnt smoke that weekend. If they admit she had smoked to relax at night, or whatever, then clearly she smoked and that matches the toxicology reports. I dont understand why keep fighting those reports. No one is out to get you or her, the reports are what they are. Facts.

I totally agree. I actually screamed out loud when they showed her body. Why would they do that!? A warning would have been nice.
And the fact that he told ppl he didn't want kids and Now he's left with his son, is completely disgusting.

I don't think her husband is trying to dispute the alcohol and marajuana in her system. I think he is trying to find SOME explanation, some sort of physical ailment that would have caused her to become delirius enough to chug a bottle of vodka. Because according to him and everyone who knew her, she's not the monster she appears to be, the one who got behind the wheel of a minivan wasted and high with 5 children with her.
My DH said it would be like something like this happening to me. He would not be OK with people thinking that I was a monster. He knows me and knows that I would NEVER do something like that. He said he would stop at nothing to try and make people understand that something else happened.
The whole situation is just so sad. I cried at times as I was watching it. He is a broken man. Something about him rubs me the wrong way, can't quite put my finger on it, but it might be the fact that his entire life was destroyed by his wife. He didn't just lose his wife, his daughter and his 3 nieces... he also lost a relationship with parts of their family, he has a whole world judging him, saying that he had to know something about his wife being a drinker. I would probably have a chip on my shoulder as well if I were in his shoes.
May all those who died rest in peace, may the parents of the 3 girls have a little glimmer of joy with the birth of their upcoming child and may the son who survived grow up to do great things with his life because he was meant to live.

This makes me think it was a suicide- and she wanted to take her children, the children he didn't want, with her. That man knows more than he's letting on.
I cried through the end of it. I will say I didn't see the documentary as supportive of Daniel Schuler at all though. It made him look like an irrational crockpot. That scene at the very end where Daniel reached out to hold his son's hand and his son pulled away was very telling.
What an devastating tragedy. Those poor people.
