Re: Thrift stores / flea markets
looking for a particular type of item like furniture? There's St Vincent De Paul in Huntington & there are apparently other locations too.. I know they have lots of second hand furniture & other household stuff (Click here for others)
There's also Attias Flea Market in Sayville, which is only open specific days (thurs - sun maybe??)
For thrift store type stuff there's also Good Will.. (click here for locations)

Go on craigslist and type vickivintage into the search area. There's a woman in W Islip that has stuff like this. Usually she's redone it to shabby chic white like the piece you posted. I bought a few items from her and redid them myself too. There's also another woman, if you type in "Michelle centerport" you will come up with her stuff

I know someone who does well at that Good Will in E. Northport.
Also, there is a large Salvation Army in Patchogue that my friend does very well with.

Re: Thrift stores / flea markets
Another person you can search for on craigslist is Michelle in Centerport/Huntington. Just search for Centerport/Huntington and you will see all of her stuff. I bought five different pieces from her for my bedroom (night tables, two dressers, and a lingerie chest) and her work was great and prices were reasonable too. She actually knows vicki (Vicki's Vintage from Craiglist). I saw Vicki's stuff too, I preferred Michelle's work.

Re: Thrift stores / flea markets
Love Vicki's stuff, have bought several pieces from her... normally I do this stuff on my own but when there are specific pieces that I can't find then I'll look at Vicki's stuff. I think her prices are better than Michelle from Centerport and Vicki is right by Good Sam... I don't know where you are located but that is way closer to me than Centerport/Huntington

I found out about this gem recently from a new co-worker who loves to re-do furniture in her spare time.
I had driven by it a zillion times but never went in, until a few weeks ago.
