To the asshole at Oceanside Dunkin Donuts, I meant what I said.

Today, I was at the Oceanside Dunkin Donuts with my mom. She has breast and brain cancer and was not having a good day. We were there on our way to visit my dad, who is in the hospital with heart problems.

As we are sitting at the table, this older man comes up to us...maybe around 75...and he looks at me and says, "Now, I'm going to ask you a question and don't get mad. Have you ever tried gluten-free? Eliminate gluten, and all that weight will just come right off."

My poor mom had no idea what was going on, and I was so humiliated. I didn't even know what to say. He walked away and went outside into his car. My eyes filled up with tears because of him and because the last couple of days have been so stressful. Meanwhile, my mom is going, "What's wrong? Are you crying because he was mean?"

I marched outside, knocked on his window and said, "You know, my dad is in the hospital with heart problems. My mom has multiple cancers. You really cannot just walk up to people and say things like that."

I then ended it with, "You know...you're a real piece of shit."

I hope it hurt him, and I hope he thinks twice before being a load of shit again.

Wow. What a douche! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. Even if your family wasn't dealing with all of these issues (which I'm sorry about btw and I'm sending good wishes your way), what he said was rude and uncalled for.

I agree, but people still need to be responsible for what comes out of their mouths.

I work with people with brain damage, many who lack a filter.

While it may be obvious to some there's an issue, mess with the wrong person you really will get that coffee in your face or worse.
