Toddler Beds??? Age? Help!
What age did you switch your DS from a crib to a bed? Was it a toddler bed? I would like to try it out, as DS has already shown signs that he is fullly capable of climbing out. Problem is, I think he is too young. He will be 17 months this month, but he is tall, so climbing out is not a problem.
We are also expecting a baby in September, and I would like to use the crib for the new baby.
So, should I wait until he actually climbs out? How did you know your DC was ready? Did you buy an adult size mattress, or just get a bed that a crib mattress will fit?
So many questions!!!
Thank you

Re: Toddler Beds??? Age? Help!
DS never climbed out of his bed, but we were in a similar situation that I was PG with DD and wanted to use the crib for her.
On DS 2nd birthday we got him a twin bed with bed rails from one step ahead. I like that they are the entire length of the bed. I read him a book about Elmo getting a bed for his birthday. We kept the bed in the room so he was used to it. We tried it for a nap and were successful and used it that night. He had a little difficulty the first night but was fine by the second. We left the crib up and empty for two months before DD was born. About a week before I was due I asked DS where DD should sleep and he volunteered his old crib. It was a great transition.
ETA: I also got him new bedding and made a point of having him help me pick it out.

Thank you! Sounds like a great way to give the new baby the crib. I hope I have this easy of a transition!!
