Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Can you usually transfer them to the crib successfully when you get home?
I can't with DD...never works. Did sometimes when she was an infant, but not in a long time. Sometimes, if she's really tired, she'll wake as soon as she hits the crib, but when I pick her up, she'll fall asleep on my shoulder and would sleep for hours like that if I allowed it.
Just curious.

We NEVER could with Jacen, until recently. In the past month or so i've been able to transfer him. But it never works for my husband when he does it.
Lately when ds fights his afternoon nap, i throw him in the car and by the time i get 3 minutes down the road, he's passed out. I head home and transfer him.

Jack was never one to go for the transfer.
We actually did it successfully the other day, but I think that's only because he's been sick and his lack of sleep!

We used to always be able to do the transfer, but lately it is 50/50.

K transfers well. She always wakes up when we pull in the garage, but I just take her out and walk her straight upstairs and into her crib (I don't talk to her - I just pretend she's still sleeping ). She *might* cry for like 20 sec, but not always, and she'll go back to sleep.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
DD #1 NEVER ever could take her from car to bed
DD#2 90% of the time we can, she'll wake up but go right back to sleep in the crib most of the time.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Kaydyn generally doesn't transfer well from sleeping in the car to the crib. Once in a blue moon if she is really exhausted she won't wake up, but most times she wakes up as soon as I pull into the driveway or as soon as I left her out of the seat.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Nope! ONLY if it's bedtime and she's been passed out on the drive home can I transfer her. But no way for naps. I end up driving around if that's the case

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Depends on when it is. If it's at night around bedtime, then yes. If it's at the beginning of naptime, then yes. If it's at some oddball time, then no. He knows he schedule well.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Totally. Once he is out - he is out. Just last night actually... I picked him up at 7 from my mom and he fell asleep in his seat. Took him out 20 minutes later and straight into the crib - didn't even move. AND HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!! He was still asleep when I left this morning at 7:00 am to drop him off
Sometimes, when he falls asleep a few minutes before we get home, I will rive around for a bit giving him time to fall into a deeper sleep before I park and get him out so that I don't wake him.

If it is past DD's bedtime then usually I have no problem. Doing it for naps never ever works.

Not the crib but anywhere else yes.. Like I can put him on the couch fine....even my bed, just something about HIS bed that wakes him.

Nope, only at bedtime; not at naptime. She'll wake up as soon as I put her in the crib.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Yes - sometimes it is the only way to get her to nap esp recently. BUT the key is to move her when she has only been asleep for a few minutes if she is asleep for 30 mins or more I can't transfer her - but if she just falls asleep and I move her 10 mins later we are good.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Marron usually wakes up when I take her out of the carseat. If she's only been asleep for about 10mins I can usually get her to go back to sleep in the bed, but if it's been longer, even 15-20mins, she won't go back to sleep at all.

NEVER! Like you, we used to be able to make the transfer when she was younger. Now, no way. It's almost as if she's wide awake when I open the back seat to get her!

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Most of the time I can. But she has to be really tired and out like a light. I have had those days when I have tried but she ends up wide awake.
