Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
always a yes.
this kid isn't a sleeper, but when he is asleep...he is OUT of it.
I can get him from car, bring him upstairs, change his clothes, give him neb treatment and brush his teeth! he will sleep through all of it.

If it is past DD's bedtime then usually I have no problem. Doing it for naps never ever works.
Yep, same here. Only late at night from the car.
very rarely, for naps if he is in his stroller, I can transfer him, but for some reason, never from the car.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Ryan sleeps like a rock, so yes, we can move him and he still stays asleep.
Erin on the other hand wakes up the minute we pull into the driveway. I don't know how or why, but she does. So she is always awake when we try to move her.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
it was a 50/50 chance with us as well when he was an infant. Now as a toddler I haven't had so much luck, he would still seem asleep carrying him upstairs but once he was placed in his crib he was up.
I try to keep him awake until I get home, if not and he falls asleep I wind up driving around and/or parking someplace. Sometimes if he sees me sitting in the car and were not driving he'll wake up, but if I start the car and drive he'll fall asleep again.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Used to be able to but no more. It stinks because it really has us making the decision between naps or outings some days b/c of timing
ETS: this is for naps. We have no problem transferring him for bedtime - I guess he's just so pooped by that point it doesn't matter.

Most of the time, yes. Some days, like today, she wakes up. I still pt her down to try to get her to go back to sleep. Some days she does, some days she doesn't.

Yes I have to say she is great about it. if she doenst transfer on a rare occasion then its only about 15 minutes she is up.She has a drink watches an episode of one of her shows and then we do our normal bedtime routine and she is out.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Yes -when she was little, but not any more. No matter how tired she is she will NOT stay asleep once I transfer her from the car to the crib, and the worst part about it is that even if she only slept for 5 minutes in the car THAT'S IT once she is awake she is awake and there is big chance that she will not take a nap any more ALL DAY or at least for another 2-3 hrs(and by then it's too late for a nap) So if I'm driving home and really close to the house and I see her falling asleep I try to NOT let her

Nope, never! I could until she was around 18 months old, but now she wakes right up.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
If it's late at night, yes. I can put on a diaper and PJs most of the time without ever waking them up.
If it's the middle of the day, sometimes they wake up.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
NOpe never. this is why when we are driving late at night home from somewhere i will stay next to him in the back and keep him entertained b/c not only will he not transfer but he will not go back to sleep then!
ETA: DS is 22 months - b/c i think age is a big issue with this question - when he was very young this would workk but, def. not since a year

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
Ryan is 1 but as soon as I go to undo the carseat he is up. And there is no going back. So now, I keep a book in the car and sit with him in there with a/c on until he wakes up on his own.

Re: Toddler moms-- if your child falls asleep in the car
We can't move him. DH has done it a rare couple of times and it worked but usually - I ask DH to grab me the laptop and stay out in the car with him until he wakes up.
