Toddler moms...odd question
How does your child refer to him/herself? Like if you ask them their name?
If I ask Katherine her name she normally replies "Kate." Very frequently though, she refers to herself as "You." For example, if she sees herself in a picture, she'll say, "That you" or even sometimes if I ask her her name she'll say "You." I guess because people say "How are you ;" "What are you doing?" etc. etc. People that don't realize think she's talking about them, so I have to fill them in. Anyone else's kid do this?

They referred to themselves in the third person until they got the hang of "I".

Jack still talks about himself in third person. He has all his pronouns down except for "I".

Re: Toddler moms...odd question
When I ask Ryan his name- sometimes he says "mama"
But then when I ask again emphasizing the YOUR name- he says Iyan.
He refers to himself as "Iyan" or "me"

Re: Toddler moms...odd question
Jake pretty much has the whole I/me/Jake thing down.
The only two phrases he still mixes up is
Me help you (really means help me)
I carry you (really means carry me)
Just those two for some reason, otherwise most of the time I'm shocked how often he gets it right.

Roman rarely says "Roman." He usually says "me." They did a whole thing in day care "all about me" so lately it's "me."

Re: Toddler moms...odd question
She called herself babyyou for the longest time. She would see pictures and we would say who is that and she would say Baby you. She still refers to herself in the third person often and she will say things like carry you when she wants me to carry her. It's normal at this age. Now that she is almost 2 1/2 baby you is totally gone, the you instead of me is almost gone too now she is just confusing her he / she.

It's funny you ask this because I am surprised that Ava doesn't refer to herself as Ava. She calls herself "me". When she sees pictures of herself, though, she does say Ava.

Ava did the same exact thing at about 2-2 1/2. Think about it... if you show her a picture of herself, you would say "That's you." So, it makes sense...

Bryan is 2 and has been reffering to him self in the thrid person for quite a while now. Its very cute. he says Bryan wants a snack or Bryan wants to play. Also when he wants to be held he says " hold you" instead of hold me.
