Tooth question!!! UPDATED
I hope somebody can answer this for me.
My ear hurts, my eye hurts and my face feels all funny on one side (pressure and numb on and off). It totally feels like a toothache I had a couple of years ago (I ended up having the tooth extracted). Once in a while the tooth itself has pain and then goes away (it's an upper tooth).
I went to the dentist yesterday. My gum is a little receded on this tooth and I have sensitivity -- but I've never been in pain with it. She took an xray and says it looks fine.
My question is can a tooth xray look ok, but the tooth really isn't? I can't imagine what else this could all be.
TIA

Re: Tooth question!!!
It could be a sinus infection. My DH had all the signs of a toothache with his head hurting and it turned out to be a sinus infection.

Re: Tooth question!!!
Could definitely be a sinus infection. I have had 10 of them this year and thats how I felt for most of them. Go to a regular dr and get an antibiotic...

Re: Tooth question!!!
Do you only have sensitivity with that one tooth? Unfortunately for me, any time I ever had any sensitivity on a single tooth I wound up with a root canal, or at the very least, a filling. But, if the dentist took an x-ray and says all is well, maybe you somehow irritated that tooth and it will go away? Hopefully.
Maybe try rinsing w/some salt water or one of those mouth rinses (orajel makes one).
Or, like pp said, could be a sinus infection. Can you go to your doctor to have him/her check it out?

Yes, you can. I think they call it a "dry" sinus infection. Unfortunately, I deal w/lots of sinus infections. Have you taken any advil/motrin yet? If it's a sinus infection it should help the swelling/inflammation go down.

Re: Tooth question!!!
While I was reading this I immediately thought it sounds like a sinus infection!!! Those can be so uncomfortable!!! I'd make an appt with your reg dr to see what they think. You may need an antibiotic for that.

Re: Tooth question!!!
Thank you so much everyone.
I took Mucinex last night to see if it would help and it did, so I'm thinking it is a sinus infection. I woke up this morning and I feel uncomfortable again, but I can literally hear my face crackling inside and my tooth doesn't hurt anymore. I'm going to see my PCP today for an antibiotic.
Anytime I've had a sinus infection it's always been from a cold, so I never thought that this is what it could be. Scared the crap out of my when my face was feeling numb!!!!

It really is crazy how the pain can radiate to different parts of the face!! I remember when I had a sinus infection in HS, the entire side of my face hurt SOOO bad!!!!!!!!! It went from my eye, all the way down to my teeth.
I hope your dr gave you something to help!!

Re: Tooth question!!! UPDATED
This year has been the worst for me with sinus infections. Ten since February!!!! All stemming from allergies. It has been the worst allergy season my dr has seen.. As soon as I feel pain, I start to take sinus meds. I found that when I keep on top of my allergy medication, I am a lot better...
