Transition to Sippy Cup

I was wondering when you started to transition your DC's to the sippy cup and how did you do it? Was there a certain type of cup that you used that is better than another?

I have been giving DD the sippy with some water in it and she uses it as a teether. At least now she is holding it on her own - before she wouldn't even do that.

Thanks!

In the beginning DS just chewed on it. I kept giving it to him and he eventually got it after a couple of days. I started when he was 6 months.
