Travel with newborn. WWYD?
DH has to go away for work for a week in June. DD will be a month old and I am freaking out about us being here alone. I am so worried that something will happen while he is away. We have no family here so it will be just us for an entire week. I know I wont be wanting to take her out much at that point either since she wont be 6 weeks yet and I am worried I will get stir crazy. We do have the option to go with him. It's just to Boston and we would drive but then stay in a hotel. They always put him up in a nice hotel but still, it's a hotel. Would you take your one month old baby to stay in a hotel for a week or is that just too risky? Any advice would be appreciated, I am so anxious about him leaving.

Right now you are anxious because it is all unknown. By the time your DH leaves for his trip you will have this parenting thing down! I don't see an issue with going with him but you will be more comfortable at home. It's really hard to bring everything you need with you to a hotel room and if you don't plan to take your newborn out, you'll go crazy!

I'd stay put. Your DD is still so young, you won't want to have to stay in a hotel. You'll be more comfortable at home.
Right now, you're nervous because it's all unknown. By the time your DH travels though, you'll get the hang of it. While he's away, take walks and go out with the baby to keep from going stir crazy. It'll all be okay.

Thanks ladies. I guess we will stay put and just hope it all goes well. It is getting easier day by day so I think you are right and we will be ok by then.

ITA. I have a 9 week old DS and i waa perified to be left alone with him at first. I even cried when dh went back to work the first time. Honestly it was totally fine! You really will be surprised how naturally it will all come to once the LO is here.

I would rather be left home along when my DS was that young than as he gets older.
I would stay home and enjoy myself.

Ditto on all this. Plus I"d rather be close to my own pediatrician than far away kwim?
