TSH levels: thyroid concerns

Does anybody know the reference range for TSH levels in children? DS" levels are at 4.7 and the dr. recc. me to an endocrinologist. I don't have an appointment until July 11th and of course I researched it online and am freaking out. Chat Icon

Im not familiar with TSH levels in children...

hmmm, that is a fairly normal level for an adult - not sure what it should be in children.

it is very treatable if your LO is over/underactive Chat Icon

How old is your son ?
is this based on newborn screening results ?

DS newborn screening came back high, they retested him. Then he came back low.
They sent me to a pediatric endo... She said she sees this all the time and wasn't concerned.
The results there the thyroid came back fine.

In the end, alot of worry and alot of running for nothing.

New values are between 1 & 3. Old values were between 0 & 5. That looks to be elevated which means hypothyroidism. Very easily controlled with medication.Chat Icon Chat Icon

He is 15 months old. The newborn screening also came back elevated and we followed up with an endo. Nothing came of it. I asked for the test on his recent bloodwork this month just to monitor it b/c I have it.
