Re: United Airlines fiasco
Funny how this passenger's prior alleged crime is now somehow relevant to how he was treated, considering how when a known criminal gets hurt by a cop, it automatically means the cop was wrong and the criminal is the victim. The double standard is incredible.

It is way too easy to get a lot of people up in arms over something without all the facts. All you need is an inflammatory title because many won't look past that.
Before anyone gets angry, I'm saying this as a general comment about people jumping to conclusions on social media, not about anyone in particular.
I honestly can't believe they had to forcibly remove someone from a plane to make room for crew. There must have been a better solution. But, once police get involved, I don't think there is any choice but to do what they ask.
Clearly there was a better solution to handling this situation. If the passenger was irate and belligerent like United is saying, then why didn't the officers handcuff him? But instead after dragging him bloodied from the plane, they lost him and he returned to the plane only to be removed on a stretcher? Bottom line is, no one deserves to be treated like this by a business.

Besides the passenger's past, what UA did was so wrong IMO. I'm glad to see it is showing on their business since they lost a billion in their value today. I'm disgusted about the way the handled the situation.

Americans have a short attention span, though. The stock has basically recovered their loses already.
We get outraged at whatever is the latest story, then we get bored or distracted, and move on to the next thing we're outraged about....

Thats like someone saying "over my dead body", that doesn't mean you have the right to kill them. I travel a lot for work & they count on me being there on time...I probably would've said the same thing...well then drag me off, cuz I'm not leaving. United is so wrong & their CEO has changed his tune & is no longer blaming that man.

I don't disagree with you.
I was just posting the video from before he was taken off. A few people wondered how it went down. And that was how.
The CEO changed his tune a few times. With the stocks going back up I won't be surprised if we no longer hear from him. I'm sure his sudden change in attitude had more to do with that than anything else.
I agree with Goldenrod. People have a very short attention span. This won't be in the news much longer and people will still fly them.

The same people who are screaming about a boycott are the same people, who a month from now, will be on Travelocity picking flights, and they'll say "I'll take this flight, it's $5 cheaper than the other ones", and never even look at the fact that it's UA... It happens over and over with every story we are upset about for the moment...
I've lost track of how many companies we're supposed to "boycott" for any number of reasons...

YUP. And UA will probably dropped their prices just enough to get people flying them. Because most people need to save a few dollars or just love a deal. The fact that their shares are back up already speaks volumes.

I totally agree, people will use them to get a good deal & we'll be on to the next breaking news story. To be honest, it's not the whole airline that suddenly started ripping people off of planes...this incident was caused by a small group of people that made terrible decisions. It's just terrible that this person has this humiliating video out there...but I'm sure they'll pay him off too.

Re: United Airlines fiasco
Just to reiterate my point about people forgetting who and why to boycott, and United not seeing any long-term negative affects from this:
http://money.cnn.com/2017/07/18/news/companies/united-earnings/index.html?iid=ob_homepage_deskrecommended_pool
The airline said it flew more passengers for the three months ending in June -- and that's despite its high profile customer service debacle in April. United managed to boost ticket sales even as fares climbed higher during the quarter, according to its financial report released Tuesday afternoon.
As a result, both revenue and profits rose at the airline during the second quarter. It was during this quarter that United was pilloried after a passenger who was physically dragged off of an oversold flight, bloodied and screaming, was seriously injured.

And while I know this is what usually happens, it's absolutely crazy to me! I was never a fan of United, and since the April incident, they have had at least 5 more high profile ones. I for one plan to boycott them for life if at all possible.
