I have had D&C with Dr. P at GS. The procedure is very simple and not painful from my experience. You are put to sleep and wake up with some cramping. Same day procedure. I did not have the lap, but if they suspect etopic I think they go into tubes. I thought with etopic they give methotrexate to help the MC. SInce he can't see anything, they must do exploratory.
I would take the day after procedure off. I did not and had not cramping/or complications.
My heart and prayers go out to you. I understand you anxiety and wish you well. Try to stay calm. That was the best advice I received.

I'm so very sorry! The procedure itself isn't that bad. Afterwards, you'll feel like you're having a bad period. Although, I'm not sure, since they can't see a sac. If it's ectopic, not sure what the feeling might be like. I'd plan on taking at least Tues. off just to be off your feet, and mentally, taking a day for you.
Try to enjoy your wedding weekend! I know how hard it is! The last time I lost a baby, found out on a Monday baby had no HB. Wed. was my wedding anniversary. We were closing on our new home on Thurs. D&C scheduled for Friday. NEEDLESS to say- that was a rough week. I just kept telling myself that "God doesn't give us anything we can't handle".

Thats similar to me.... my betas had no rhyme or reason... 713 - 5 days later 918 - 2 days later 1300.... if they cant find anything its because you are under 1000....
ask them for the methotrexate shot if it is ectopic... its not bad at all... extra strength tylenol is magic on the cramps...

So strange, because i specifically asked Dr. B about the shot being better b/c, isnt always better to avoid unneccesary surgery if i dont need it??!?? and he said the drawback with the shot is you have to wait 3 months???? now im really confused!!??!

I was on Methotrexate for a condition. I needed to be off for 3 months before TTC. I believe the same is true for the shot.

i would trust him... i only suggested it because its much less invasive... but i totally understand that you dont want to wait.. we were planning to wait until january either way... so i never really bothered to find out

I think the risks are associated with the shot depleting your body of folic, an important nutrient for a growing fetus...birth defects..miscarraige...etc...
I am relieved that there is an end in sight, i have been literally living with anxiety for too long, as god awful as this sounds, i want this over, now. i want to be able to move on. i am MORE determined than ever now....i really believe i am gaining strength thru all my anger and its motivating me. i have 2 choices right now....one- lay down, defeated and wallow in my grief and have a woe is me pity party...and two- stay strong, do what i have to do physically....and MOVE on, knowing and believing this will all make me a better mother. i choose the later.

that is EXACTLY how i felt on Wednesday... the nurse in the ER was about to take blood and i said no im only here for the shot... just give it to me and let me go home!

I don't even know what to say, I feel so horrible that you are going through this!!
I don't have any experience with your situation specifically, though I have had a D&E which- while the situation is completely different- I will say that what you are going through emotionally is so much worse than any physical pain you will be dealing with! That's how it was for me, anyway.
I went into the procedure scared out of my mind but ultimately I didn't experience much in the way of physical pain. I woke up at the hospital in recovery with pain meds in my IV. The worst of it was really the bleeding.
I'm not sure how long it will take for you to try again, though I was told 8wks. I don't think it should be much different for you- or certainly not longer since that's what I was told and I was much further along.
I wish I had something to say that would help but I know from my experience- there's just nothing that ANYONE can say to make it any better. The only thing that will heal you is getting pregnant again and carrying full term with a healthy baby. That's what I believe anyway.... I'm still waiting for my miracle.

I FM'd you. I also choose to not take methotrexate bc of the 3 month waiting period. I asked dr b if that was true and he said yes. With the lap and D&C he said I just have to wait to get a period and then we can get started again

You do have to wait three months-it can cause birth defects. The surgery wont be bad-just get it done with and you can move on faster...so sorry!!!
