Update w/ PIC Below WWYD?
DS has been sick with diarrhea for the past 9 days. Last Wednesday he had thrown up and then I got sick on Saturday. So it was definitely a virus. Well I called the doctor on Wednesday to see if he needed to be seen just as a precaution. I spoke with the Dr. and she said that I was doing everything I could for him at this point since it's a virus. Wait and see in 3-5 days and if it's still here come in. Well, yesterday I noticed his belly button is bright red and a greenish bruise around it. (About three weeks agao DS fell off of his tricycle and maybe a few days later we saw his belly button turned a bit red. DH thought it was a rash. It never changed colors, except to light pink, and then almost nonexistent) Now here's the thing, it make me nervous yesterday since it was truly bruised and I looked it up on the computer and all I could find was that a bruise on the navel could be a sign of internanl bleeding. Great, the doctors office is closed, DH is away. I calmed myself down and decided to call this morning, that DS is showing no signs of discomfort except this diarrhea (which SHOULD be from the virus). Anyway, I haven't called yet, because I feel like I'm stuck here with all this snow and no DH. I'm also pregnant and I'm pretty sure that I shouldn't shovel all this snow out of my way. And, I also live on the hilly side of LI! The doctors office is about 15 minutes away.
Basically I want to bring him in to the doctor to be checked, but at the same time it's really not safe for me to pack us up, shovel and drive there. WWYD? This is the first time I have EVER held back with getting help for my DS because of the fear of something else going wrong. Plus I think I watch to much of House!

Re: WWYD?
Take him to the Dr. Because if it is something you will never forgive yourself.

Re: WWYD?
Could someone help you shovel? If not, take it easy, do it slowly & take breaks.

Re: WWYD?
If he fell 3wks ago I wouldn't worry too much that he has internal bleeding. It sounds like he scraped his tummy and may have gotten irritated again. If you want you press lightly on his tummy (Not directly on the bruise though) If for some reason he had a belly full of blood this would cause excruciating pain and then you should call 911. I would still call the Dr for some reassurance but it doesn't sound like you need to trek out in this awful weather asap.
ETA: Saw your update. I'd start warming up your car now so you don't have to scrape it. Is there anyone in the neighborhood that can shovel for you? Shoveling is a no no for pregnant women. You don't want to take your son to the pediatrician then have to stop at the hospital for yourself.

Re: WWYD?
Thank you for responding. I tired pressing on it and he pushes me away with a whine, so it's not exscruiating. But when I press above his privates he says owe. So I'm thinking maybe it's a hernia. DH is very prone to them so, it's all I can think of at this point. Maybe it is nothing, but you are right I would not forgive myself if it is something serious.
I'm going to take the main roads and drive slowly. I'm also only going to shovel behind my car and wipe it off.
Thank you again.

Re: WWYD?
Well we're back and apparently I'm crazy. The doctor didn't see a bruise and assured me that he is not internally bleeding. I'm sure it didn't help that DS screamed his head off the ENTIRE time.
Here is a picture...Do you see a bruise? I do. I also see a rash, but I'm going to assume that's from all the diarrhea he woke up in.
The actual belly button is redish-purplish, then red and then a bruise around that. But, I guess it's nothing.

Re: Update w/ PIC Below WWYD?
Well I'm glad its not anything (according to that dr)...I can't see the pic only a red x....maybe wait until DH comes home & see what he says? Why would DS be crying when you press on it if its nothing?

Re: Update w/ PIC Below WWYD?
yes, I do see a bruise. I'm glad it's nothing to worry about. However, if you feel that it IS something to worry about and don't think the doc looked carefully enough, you should totally go for a 2nd opinion.

I just spoke with DH he is on his way home from his conference in PA. He said he'll take a look at it since he's seen it red before, but not bruised.
Thank you for your hugs

Glad to see I'm not crazy! When DH gets home he'll take a look. He said that if he feels it to be necessary we will get a second opinion.
I'm going to assume it is nothing more than a bruise. And, could have happened at anytime. He's very fair skinned and could just be sensitive. He's not showing any other signs of discomfort. So I'm goin with the wait and see.
I'm just really hoping and wishing for this diarrhea to go away. Thank you ladies for your concern.
