Have you tried a little cereal in her bottle? I have heard this to help and I would give gripe water to her before every feeding. My DD never had reflux but had what we suspect a milk protein allergy. After 5 different formulas we put her on Nutramigen and after a week her whole system calmed down and regulated itself. I am sorry you are going through this. It does get better.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this Krista! Your doctors are supposed to be helpful and supportive. If they're not, fire their asses lol. And trust your gut! If you think something is wrong, you're probably right. You baby is lucky to have you!

I feel for you! I was there about a year ago and dealing with very similar issues. It was so bad, that i really thought there was something major wrong. WHen his screaming fits would happen, you'd have to hold him on his side on the couch, hold his legs and hold his arms together with the pacifier in his mouth to calm him down. I really thought something more was going on.

I do NOT agree with the peds advice not to switch formulas. A few people told us to not switch so much but i know it was a matter of finding the right cocktail. Chat Icon And it was. We switched 4 times. We could tell within a week of whether it worked or not.

The GI... hated that. It's all a waiting game which is the worst because you have to give each med 1-2 weeks to work before changing. Prevacid made my son have these awful gas reactions where he'd scream for hours. After day 3 we stopped that.

For us, the trick was Similac Sensitive and the prilosec compound form. Chat Icon

But it really is all about trial and error. For my 1st son, alimentum and zantac did the trick. For my 2nd, it made him worse. Tried 4 different formulas and 4 different meds before finding the right combo.

Totally s*cks when you're going through it but you just have to find the right combo. Once we did at 3 months, he was like a new happy baby.

What i did was really look into the different types of reflux meds for babies, side effects, what class, etc etc. So i was armed and ready when i went to the GI's office or i called them. I also went on a bunch of reflux boards talking to other moms and asked for advice.

ETA: with my 1st son, prune juice made it worse and more gassy. Listen to your instints and if something isn't working or isn't right... try something else.

Zantac made my DS worse! He grunted and twisted and turned after one dose so I stopped..tried it again a few days later and same reaction. Ped. had me try Pepcid, and it worked wonders!

DS also ended up with a milk allergy, so after 3-4 formulas, he ended up on alimentum...

Good luck..and hang in there!Chat Icon
