Re: Night 1 of CIO - he threw up. I quit
The same exact thing happened to us. I tried again a week later and it hasn't happened since. I just don't let her get hysterical. I will go in and soothe her before she gets to that point. The time she threw up though was literally after 2 minutes but she was overtired and cranky and immediately hysterical. Wrong way to start. It sounds like you did it right. I would try again.

Is it working for you now? Does she go to sleep in her crib on her own? Boy I remember your post from a few weeks ago. That's where I am now... but with a 12 month old.

Yes. Sydnie wa sin her crib from 8 weeks on though. A few weeks ago she started regressing and crying when I'd put her in there. A few nights of letting her cry and she's back to her old self. This week I planned on letting her CIO for her mid night feedings but she learned REALLY fast that crying isn't going to get her what she wants to she fusses a bit ad then gives up. I know how sad/scary it is when they throw up. She was on her back choking! But sometimes it's the only thing to do. But some people let them go 40 mins. I wasn't able to do that so I would periodically go in there to soothe her before it got to that point. It will get better and easier. Hang in there.

I know it is hard just hang in there. My DS is one and I did CIO at like 6 months and it was hard but I is so worth it! We moms need sleep to be good moms.
If Mason cries for like 10 min and is hysterical I go in comfort him for like a min and place him back down. By one they a able to self sooth. Good Luck!!

Re: Night 1 of CIO - he threw up. I quit
feel your pain - our two are restless sleepers, which we can attribute to teething (hopefully)
they go down fine, but wake regularly throughout the night.
CIO isn't really an option because they are both in the same room - and if we let one scream and cry, she will wake the other up, and then it's double trouble.
The one thing we have not and willl not do is bring them into bed with us. We will sleep with them in a chair or on the couch - and even then, they cry at times, likely due to teething. And when they're out cold, we put them back in the crib - sometimes they stay, sometimes not, but we keep trying. Hopefully it pays off down the road.

I haven't been there yet but I can imagine how difficult it must be. CIO isn't for every mom and every baby. I have heard WONDERFUL things about the "No Cry Sleep Solution" Both my midwife practice and lactation consultant recommend it.
It may be worth your while to read it and get other ideas!
The No Cry Sleep SOlution
Thanks Maria. I did read that book and to be honest with you, I didn't really get anything out of it. If we go into his room and he sees us - it's over. He gets worse. I should have started this MONTHS ago. I may have had a chance with that book if I did at around 6 months.
Awww I'm sorry!!! I hope it gets better for you!!
Lots and lots of YOU WILL get through it!!!

That's where we went wrong. We had him in the bed with us - because A) I loved having him next to me and B) it was easier with the eralier night feedings. Then it became habit.

We did that w/ DD. With EBF is was sooo easy to just do that when she outgrew the bassinet. DH & I truly were not up for CIO - we tried, but always caved. Then I started laying on the floor next to her crib until she fell asleep, and I would then crawl out of her room. I did that for about a month and then just stopped. She cried that first night for about 2 minutes and went right to sleep, and has been falling asleep like a champ ever since.

OMG thank you for writing this! I just spoke to Chris this afternoon and we both decided that we can't do CIO - we cave and we are both traumatized by the throwing up last night. So we were going to lay and "sleep" on the floor by his crib tonight until he falls asleep and see how that goes. It's all about security for him - knowing that we are there when he goe sto sleep and sleeps (since that is what he is used to being that he has been in our bed). I am so happy to hear that it worked for you!!!! Did your DD cry at first when you put her in her crib?

Re: Night 1 of CIO - he threw up. I quit
CIO did not work for us, DS falls asleep fine, but he does wake at 4am each morning, and we bring him into bed with us.....so we can have those extra 2-3 hours of sleep, it works for us, i don't mind him in bed with us in the morning.....but some are super against it

Boy I wish I had that problem. Instead I have a baby that cannot sleep anywhere but in our room on our bed. And even if we attempt the sneaky transfer once he is alseep - he pops right back up and cries. If he was waking up at 4 am, I would just take him into bed with us too for th emorning and cuddle
