Upper Lip/Gum Growing In Between Teeth
Please help! I just noticed that my 17 month old daughter has her upper lip/gum growing in between her 2 front teeth. Who do I go to get this removed? I want it gone asap while she's still young but I'm not sure who I make an appointment with. Does anyone have experience with this?
Please recommend your Pediatric Dentist

Does she use a pacifier? My daughter had that and it was from the pacifier pushing her front teeth up. Both my ped and her dentist weren't comcerned and said it would correct itself. When she gave up the paci at 2, her front teeth came down and the gums went back to normal.

My daughter just turned 2 and has a lip tie. for now it isn't impeding her speech or eating/drinking so the pediatrician and pediatric dentist (Kidd Smiles in Merrick) aren't concerned. If it doesn't recede after she's done with the pacifier we will discuss further

Yes she does!! Wow so it's caused by using the pacifier?

This is a lip tie. It has nothing to do with a pacifier. Its genetic. We used Dr. Scott Siegal in Melville. He is the only provider on LI who will do it by laser while they're awake.

Proceedure is called a frenectomy. There is a mineola specialist who does it but I forget what they are called.

Genetic? No one in my family or my husband's has it But my daughter does. The dentist said that pacifist use could be making it more predominant and it should "settle down" after she stops using it.
Was he covered by your insurance? If not, would you mind sharing what the procedure cost?
