Vent: how’s your month going?
So, how’s your month going? Well I got into a major bike crash, wound up with a concussion a week later which left me crying in bed for 4 days that I would never feel normal again. My pelvis is not broken but still feels weird. Then I had to have a precancerous growth removed from my lip. Then my husband broke his foot walking down the stairs and finally my son was diagnosed with Covid even though he goes nowhere, but school. Luckily so far, all close contacts have been negative.
Here’s to hoping things improve. It’s been a rough month.

Re: Vent: how’s your month going?
September was a terrible month. I had bronchitis for three weeks. I am going to see a specialist on Wednesday.
My dad had open heart surgery, then he got covid so we could still not see him. He is now on a heart monitor to see if he will also need a pacemaker.
My in laws lost their home and car in hurricane Ida. So yeah we have been dealing with a lot here.

Re: Vent: how’s your month going?
Pretty ****** so far around here too. I’ve been dealing with heart palpitations that got so extreme, I spent the day in the ER last week. Everything checked out ok but now I follow up with cardio this week to start all the testing. We attended 2 wakes within 3 days. One of someone young, mid 30’s. Listening to his mothers cry for him for 2 hours made my heart break over and over again. The other was an elderly person, had Covid and was on vent for a while. Super sad.
I can’t get enough sleep no matter how much I actually do sleep. I’ve been taking naps when I get home from work and then have no problem sleeping 9-10 hours a night. I quit caffeine bc of the palps, so that’s hard to detox from w the headaches. And I absolutely, 100% have to get my shit together with my diet before I undo all of the hard work I put in for the past couple of years.
Whirlwind.

Re: Vent: how’s your month going?
OP and previous posters- I’m sorry that it has been difficult for you.
I guess I’m OK. I got a few unexpected bills, but other than that, nothing major. I started a new job (not full time, but I have freelance in addition to it), so that’s been good. It has been easier than I expected for some reason.
I’ve really been concentrating on emptying out my living space because I am so o sick of “stuff.” I got rid of half my couch and now the living room is nice and clean and minimalist.

Vent: how’s your month going?
I had to have a 15 year old root canal pulled out due to infection. Now I have a raging yeast infection from the antibiotics. And my dh is home sick waiting on covid results. But I'm happy its Fall and I hope I get lots of trick or treaters this year.

Re: Vent: how’s your month going?
I just got back from an amazing trip.... but, today I am going to spend the day with a friend who's husband is terminally ill. Her husband is one of my husband's closest friends. They have three children, one who is only 8. It totally sucks. I am so beyond sad for them. I truly believe that life has it's ups and downs. Right now you are in the down but it always turns around no matter how bad it gets. Hang in there and just take one day at a time. Also, it just goes to show you, I always try to be compassionate to people because you have no idea what they might be going through.

I think it helps to have a little perspective on your problems compared to others. I am heartbroken for your friend.
My daughter tested positive for COVID so everyone in my family except me is in 10 day isolation/quarantine. Luckily she is feeling better already but that makes it hard for a 13 year old to stay isolated in their room.
Hoping for no more positives and a quick 4 days left.

It does help to have perspective, but at the same time I never begrudge anyone for being upset over whatever is making them upset. Life is full of problems, big and small, and sometimes even though our problems might seem small compared to others, it doesn't mean we can't feel bad and express it. There is always going to be someone worse off than you are. Any time I used to vent to my mother she would say something like - oh well you shouldn't complain things could be so much worse, blah blah blah. But sometimes you just need to vent and let it all out.
As for our friends, yes it is devastating and heartbreaking.
I hope the next week goes fast for you!!! Isolation sucks!

I am so sorry to hear this and also to hear of others having tough months. It's been a touch like 18+ months for many.
I actually read something once that said "Telling someone not to complain because people have it worse is like telling someone they shouldn't be happy because people have it better"

I like that quote a lot.
OP - I'm sorry, we've had months like that where everything goes wrong one on top of the other. And it's hard as a parent when you are not 100% and neither is your DH, and things seem to compound. We have been through it before and it's a lot. And especially with DS having Covid - it's not like you can easily ask someone to come over to help right now so you can spend some time focusing on you.

Vent: how’s your month going?
Some months are just tougher than others. We’ve had rough times before. My DH had cancer a decade ago. Then it took us 3 years and 3 rounds of IVF to have our DS. This month just seems to be such a struggle for me and I’m usually very easy going. And yes I know people have it worse, but it’s still been a rough month for us both physically and mentally. The Covid diagnosis is really just the straw that broke the camel’s back. My DS is fine, but I feel so defeated since we’ve been so ridiculously cautious and then he gets it from someone at school. Ugh. I know the most important thing is that he is fine. I got tested today so we’ll see how that pans out. My DH can’t go anywhere due to his foot so he probably won’t get tested since I’d need to drive him and we have no one to watch our DS and I’d prefer not to take him out.

I am assuming he is too young to be vaccinated so look at the bright side of it. Most kids who get it have very mild cases and now he will have some natural immunity. We all definitely worried less once we had all recovered from Covid. And at least you and your husband are vaccinated so your risk of serious illness is infinitesimal. Plus your son now gets 90 days without having to quarantine if he is exposed again. And by that time the vaccine will probably be available for his age group.

He is too young to be vaccinated. I tested today and I am negative. My ILs are negative as well. My DH hasn’t gotten tested because he has a broken foot and can’t drive himself and no one wants to watch your kid when they have Covid. On a positive note, I don’t need to worry about him missing Halloween, thanksgiving or Christmas.
It appears to be a super spreader event. 8 kids in his small school got it. Many in the same class/bus. My son said the loudest mouths on the bus don’t know how to wear a mask. I am sure there will be more kids who test positive today. I guess the only good thing is that this was a holiday weekend so hopefully it helped to stop the spread within the school.

Funny how the people who wear the masks the most seem to be getting sick.
Shut up. I honestly can’t stand you. He was exposed at snack/lunch but thanks for your input.
So a kid in his class whom the germs would be around him and then trapped in the mask. Gotcha.
Don't you get tired of interjecting your unwarranted rhetoric on here, all day and all night?
I hope your month turns around OP!
No she doesn’t get tired of it, she gets off on it. Takes a post where someone is obviously having a very tough month and turns it into the incessant covid drama she loves to stir up.
OP, this has been a very crappy month for a lot of us. I hope it turns around really soon!! It also sounds like your ineffective vaccine according to windy and others is doing it’s job! Look at that! Good luck to you and hang in there. It has to get better right?

They were eating! They don’t wear masks while they eat. Not sure if you remember bc your children are much older but kids are not elegant eaters. Her son is too young to be vaccinated so unfortunately he caught the virus. They were unmasked at that time. Not hard to figure out. Luckily my son is old enough to be vaccinated and was exposed by one of his friends at lunch that sits at his table. He didn’t get covid. Must be the ineffective vaccine and unnecessary masking I guess.
