Wake a sleeping baby or not????
I feel like DS is the ONLY baby not on a really good schedule.
Uggg. Sometimes when he gets home from day care he is exhausted!!! So sometimes he'll take a 1/2 nap but sometimes like last night.. he went down at 5:30 and didn't wake until 8:00!! He only wanted his bottle was too tired to take the creal..then passed out again by 8:30...then woke at 2:00am to eat a 4oz bottle eyes wide open but eventually fell back to sleep and I acutally had to wake him up at 6:30 this morning.
Would you have woken DS up at 7:00 when he was supposed to eat???? (he's not the happiest camper when you wake him)
He doesn't nap well at daycare and I can't seem to fix that either, I feel if he napped better during the day this wouldn't be an issue!! How am i ever going to give him dinner if he sleeps through it!!!
ETA: DS is 6months next week.

Re: Wake a sleeping baby or not????
hmmmm... always a tough decision and so many people have different opinions. My feelings are to let them sleep. They are babies - if their body is telling them they need to sleep they should do that. HTH

I agree, let him sleep. DS isn't on cereal yet, but he has a weird schedule also.

Re: Wake a sleeping baby or not????
are putting him IN for a nap, meaning, in the crib and all. If Joey falls asleep on the way home from daycare I usually just either let him sleep in the car seat or transfer him into his chair, only b/c I know he won't sleep that long in there but it will be a long enough cat nap to make it through until bed time.
Can you ask daycare to try to nap him before you get there?

I put him in the crib for a nap.. I just started doing this B/c if he slept on me....he would sleep ALL NIGHT!! So the first night worked great.. he took 1/2 hour nap and was up.. last night... uggg another story!!
I have given daycare some tips but he just doesn't want to stay a sleep for them.. HOWEVER.. when I see only Two naps.. I have to ask.. 'DID THEY even TRY AND PUT HIM DOWN" KWIM?

Tough one. I don't wake Sienna ever. I would be inclined to say let him sleep.

Re: Wake a sleeping baby or not????
I have woken DS up if he decides to take a long nap around 5-6 pm. He is def not happy at first, but I let him wake up very slowly and I try not to move him around too much and keep him calm. I'd rather wake a baby at 7pm to eat so they don't wake in the middle of the night.

Re: Wake a sleeping baby or not????
Can you stop him from taking that late evening nap? give him dinner at that time and then give him a bath and have him in bed around 7-7:30 ish?
Also, why isn't he napping at day care? Have you asked how/what they are doing about that? I feel like that's what is screwing him up.
While I would normally never wake a sleeping baby to eat (I feel that if they are hungry, THEY will let you know for sure), I wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of the night to feed them.

When DS is tired he is a terror.. wont stop crying and fussing..so I kind of have to put him down for the nap. Last night he got a bottle at 4:00 so to feed him before he wanted to go down at 5:15 would be way too soon.
He's never been a good napper at daycare.. 1/2 hour tops..maybe twice a day. (funny yesterday he took one nap but it was 1 hour).
I have asked them what they do and given them tips but it's like he has an alarm clock in his head that wakes him up at 1/2 all the time at daycare.. They even all say they try not to look at him when he wakes up b/c he gives them a huge smile and then that's it.. he needs to be picked up. lOL

Re: Wake a sleeping baby or not????
While I usually agree with the whole "never wake a sleeping baby" rule, I will wake her for her last bottle. She usually is up for it anyway, but there are days where she ends up taking a long nap around 5:30/6. Her last bottle is usually around 7/7:30. If I let her sleep straight through I know she will end up waking in the middle of the night hungry. So yes, when it comes to her last bottle of the night, I will wake her if she is sleeping. It works for us and she's been STTN since about 3 months.
