Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

I always thought this was a no no across the board until a few girls told me otherwise.

Re: Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

I don't have a DH..but my sister was with me and no, she had to leave the room. They said no one could be in there when they were putting the epi in. Not like she wanted to see it anyway!

Re: Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

I live in California. My husband is in the Air Force. I had my son on base. DH didn't have to leave the room. I had my DD off base at a regular hospital but I didn't get the epi with her, so they might have had different rules.

Re: Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

I had no idea there were ever instances when he WASN't allowed to be in room! My DH was never asked to leave--epidural or not, he was standing right next to me the whole time, both times.

I delieved both my children in North Shore of Manhasset.

Re: Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

Nope. Thank God, since they had to give it to me twice and it was a terrible experience for me as I had back surgery a few years ago, lots of scar tissue.

North Shore Manhasset too.

I had a c/s with my first and had a spinal. DH was not in the room, he only came in once they were ready to do the procedure.

When I had my second, DH was in the room. I had an epi for my VBAC.

ETA: both at Winthrop.

Re: Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

My husband was asked (told) to leave the room. It gave him a good opportunity to go out to the waiting room to update our family members waiting there.

I live in CA too- DH can't handle medical stuff so he left the room but my mom stayed with me. They didn't ask anyone to leave.

They said it was up to my doctor, who said she didn't mind. He was over by the door - they told him to stand by a chair in case he felt dizzy. Chat Icon

I was at Southside.

Re: Was your DH allowed in the room during your epidural?

No DH was asked to leave the room - we delivered at Stonybrook..At first I was nervous with him leaving but it ended up being not bad - the nurses were a great help.

I had Roman at Winthrop and the anesthesiologist told DH he had to leave. I guess with baby #2 I should expect the same since I am giving birth at HuntingtonChat Icon
