DH was asked to leave during my epi...but only the first one when they inserted the tube and stuff - after that he was allowed to stay when they gave me more.

I work at Winthrop and it's the anesthesiologists preference so it depends on how comfortable they are. Some of them ask the DH's to leave the room some of them ask them to sit in a chair on the other side of the room and some don't care if they have an audience watching them.

They gave him a choice to stay if he wanted. He immediately took the opportunity to fill our parents in on what was going on! He couldn't bear to hear or see me in pain

No. And I've never been so scared in my life. I was crying hysterically - the nurse had to hold me and comfort me. That was definitely my least favorite moment in the whole process - that, and getting an IV.

Where I live, our partners are with us the whole time. I fondly remember my husband holding me down while having my epidural. I was repeatedly saying "This is just like a Prince song"

I was in South Nassau and my DH was up front watching the whole thing, I won't go into details but he liked the front view seat until it started..

wow....I also delivered at Winthrop and my DH was never asked to leave but he was asked to come stand in front of me on the other side of the dr.

I delivered at nyu and DH was with me the whole time  as a matter of fact the anesthesiologist asked Greg to help me through it...

I had a c-section & got a spinal block which DH was not allowed to be there for, but a friend of mine who laboured then had her c-section had her DH in the room the entire time, even when they administered the epi.

No he had to leave. Thank goodness for the nurse who was in there. She held my hand through the contractions while they were doing it.

No, he wasn't in the room either time (epidural, spinal)...in fact, they almost forgot to bring him back in this time
