Weight Watchers tips
Plan! Tracking is #1, but planning ahead makes a big difference for me. The weeks I lose are the weeks I planned ahead and tracked EVERYTHING, even if I used all my points, all my weekly points and was "in the red".

Re: Weight Watchers tips
I agree with PP. I write everything down and I'm super super strict. I'm allowed 26 points a day but with three meals a day and 2 snacks, I'm always under 19 points. It's a game to me, really. "How much food can I eat using the least amount of points". This calls for hours at the market calculating to find the pizza sauce with the least amount of points , bread, cheese, etc. I lost 7 lbs my first week.

Re: Weight Watchers tips
I go on skinnytaste or other websites and plan my meals for the week. I always try to add one slow cooker meal. Then I got shopping on sunday for the ingredients.
That way I can't say I have nothing to eat. I may switch up the days I make each dish.
Then I always have the one point high fiber wrap from Trader joes with turkey and alpine lace swiss and 1/4 of an avocado with light honey mustard for lunch. It's really filling
I am great when I am on WW. The problem is sticking with it.

Re: Weight Watchers tips
High fiber low cal low fat (under 4gs) and high protein. I posted in the food section what I eat. I'm in San francisco/Napa this weekend and I'm going to gain it back. Just spent $54 on baked goods and devoured them all in under 5 minutes. Im not keeping track this weekend because I'm ashamed of myself lol. I did however bring my fiber cereal for breakfast tomorrow and Monday. And I stopped by the weight watchers store and packed 3 boxes of treats for the airport/plane ride.

Re: Weight Watchers tips
Hahaha! That's another thing, I barely drink. Leaving for Napa in 2 hours. We willbe sharing tastings because we don't want to drink and drive. I also packed ww pretzels. Hot air balloon ride at 5:30 am and night at a spa tomorrow so We won't be drinking much. It's the eating out!! Last night I was looking forward to ordering a pigs head for dinner and they sold out. I have the worst restaurant karma! I ended up eating beef heart tartar and some pig ears with lettuce. Blessing in disguise (calorie wise)
And no dressing in salads!!!!! Just squeeze fresh lemon!!even on sushi! Stay away from soy sauce!!!

Re: Weight Watchers tips
I didn't do weight watchers. I started diet/exercise in the beginning of April and I'm closing in on 55 pound loss. My biggest thing is exercise. I do 30 min of cardio every day. I modified everything I cooked, did a lot of chicken, fish , veggies and salad. I usually only drink water and would have a small ice latte a day with skim milk, and I did have a glass or 2 of wine a night
Skinnytaste is a great site for recipes.

Re: Weight Watchers tips
Here's a few things Ive been doing. Down 23 lbs
Egg whites for breakfast. Use nonstick pan. 4 is a hearty breakky and only 1 pt. add veggies for free
Lite bread. Natures harvest is 2 pts for 2 slices. 3 oz of deli meat and you have a low point lunch
Salsa instead of salad dressing.
I always have at least 1 part of my meal zero pts. Steamed veggie or sautéed/grilled without oil. This way if I feel hungry I just eat 2,3 or whatever portion I need of that veggie. I can't deal with feeling hungry.
Lots (tons!) of fruit as snack, dessert, etc. Zero pts
I don't eat exercise pts to speed weight loss
No points from drinks unless I save up weekly pts for booze. 1 glass wine is 4 pts. I limit alcohol overal but it's not forbidden. I drink black coffee, water, and seltzer otherwise.
Yasso choc chip cookie dough bars are amazing and 3 pts
Breakfast is fat free cottage cheese or nonfat yogurt with fruit most days.
Trader joes kale spinach dip is one point and amazing. I dip carrots and other veg. Eat well brand hummus also super yummy.
Dump salsa on fish or grilled chicken for yummy and low point protein
I made banana muffins - recipe from pinterest for 1st bday party cake. No oil and only 1.5 cups flour for 12 muffins. I estimate they are only 2 pts each
Drink water! Watch little nibbles.
The biggest change for me was cutting out carb snacks - things I thought were healthy like granola bars, etc
Otherwise I measure and track everything. If I need something "bad" I just try to watch portion size. 1/2 cup Ice cream not the end of the world, 1/2 pint is another story
I'm a big fan of the app. I like the system overall. It's taught me to be more thoughtful and make trade offs. If I want to drink I can't have dessert and a big meal etc. I tend to be really good mon-fri and use flex pts on weekend.

Re: Weight Watchers tips
I don't do WW, but I do Myfitnesspal.
I track everything. I don't drink during the week, and I stay under my calorie count as well. The weekends need some help. I'm bad one night and then get back on track the next day.
I also started Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred. It's pretty good. I try to get in a few extra walks or bike rides, too.
I try to stick to protein and veg for main meals. I then fill in the gaps.
Snacks are hardest for me. I do some kind of fruit with peanut butter, baby bell cheese, or cucumbers. And yes, lots of water.

Weight Watchers tips
Water. They say your weight in ounces. So 100 lbs 50 oz of water.
I eat a salad almost everyday for lunch. Very low points. Cuts out some carbs.
I eat high protein every meal. Always chicken and/or avacado in my salads.
Dinner mostly skinny taste.
I've been very into kind bars. High protein. Very little processes. They are high in points but highly in protein so they keep me full.

Re: Weight Watchers tips
I am starting back on WW again after Labor Day! I have always been successful on it, but I definitely gained a good 10 lbs in the last 6 months, and I could probably stand to lose 15 or so.
I agree that the tracking is the key for me. I can maintain by kind of being mindful, but I must religiously count the points in order to consistently lose weight each week.
Eta - when tracking, make sure you are watching portions and eating correct serving sizes. At home, a good digital scale is the most accurate, best way to measure servings. Weigh things in grams. I even do it with peanut butter - put a slice of bread on a plate, put it on the scale, zero it out, and then add peanut butter. It's a lot easier to weigh 16g than try to measure out a tablespoon. You will be more consistent if you invest in a basic kitchen scale.
I like using the online tools and the mobile app for things like the points plus calculator, but I like to actually write down what I eat in a little notebook. It's easier and less cumbersome to me. I just throw it in my bag.
I like weighing myself only once a week when I am in losing mode. I usually weigh myself every day when I am maintaning, but for weight loss, I like the once a week thing so I don't get bogged down by every little fluctuation or obsessed with the scale. I like meetings for the accountability of having someone else weigh me and record my progress. I also think they help keep my "head in the game" so to speak.
Planning is key. I try to meal plan dinners, and then eat leftovers for lunch. Breakfast - I just stick to a few staples (yogurt and fruit, eggs/omelets, oatmeal).
I always need to plan a filling snack for late afternoon, as I usually eat a late dinner. NEVER let yourself get too hungry or be without a snack, that is where planning and self control goes out the window for me!
Try to eat "real food" -- i.e., not processed -- and not empty calories. That is the best use of your points and you will stay fuller longer.
I always use the weekly points. I only get 26 daily points, so for me, the weekly points make the program more liveable. I need the occasional treats of drinks with friends or a dessert. I also find that I do better when I vary my daily points intake a bit. So if I go out on a Saturday night and use a big chunk of my weekly points, and then stick to the 26 the next day, I do better than just eating the same amount of points every day. Mixing things up with the food, too, always helps me get past a plateau. Like if you eat a huge lunch and a small dinner, try doing the reverse. Or if you eat a lot of one particular food, try adding in new foods.
Food is the most important component, not exercise. Exercise is a bonus, but I have lost weight just by following the nutritional portion of the program. While working out can help you maintain or speed your weight loss a bit, I think many people overestimate how much they are burning off and then eat back too many "activity points." If ever I exercise, I don't even worry about activity points.
Good luck!

4 pts for 5 oz. It's so sad. Get out your measuring cup!
My DH always mocks me for measuring out my wine when I'm going hard core WW. But that's why I didn't attempt it in the summer, when the cocktails and wine were free flowing!

Christine! Yup! I said sept 8th is my official start date. I want to finish up my summer fun (hahah). But I am going hard core for real. I need to. The baby is 16 months and I hate how I look. My "goal" is 20 lbs but I don't know if I can do it. Exercise is hard for me. I mean I will go walking but gym out of the question with my crazy man. So I need to do WW hard core. But I like my food so this going to he tough. I need good recipes.

Weight Watchers tips
1. weigh and measure everything 2. track everything you eat (my old ww leader used to say "if you bite it, you write it. if you nibble, you scribble") 3. go to meetings and weigh in weekly 4. plan meals or just have a lot of healthy options in the house 5. literally take a garbage bag and throw out anything unhealthy in your cabinets. 6. not sure if you do this, but my big issue used to be eating my kids leftovers (mac & cheese, pasta, grilled cheese). If you do this, stop.
I'm a lifetime ww member. The program works if you work the program. My biggest weight loss weeks were when I diligently tracked my food and regularly exercised.

"How much food can I eat using the least amount of points".
This was basically my main goal too when I was doing WW. I think sometimes people end up eating less and that works against your body. Eating the largest amount of food while staying within the 26 pts is going to get you the best results. This meant a LOT of fruit and veggies wherever possible, for me.
I made sure to use up all my daily pts and then used up my weeklies ONLY on the weekend - I was always very strict during the week. That's what worked for me, but everyone is different. I know some people who can't use their extra pts. I needed to.
I lost 50 lbs and have kept it off.

How about some suggestions for 1,2 & 3 point "supermarket" snacks? I bought yogurts for 2 points, but I'd love to know which items you girls go to for some snacking (not fruits veggies - like, things I can leave in my work desk)

Rice cakes are low pts, don't remember exactly how much but low. But I always spread a little reduced fat cream cheese on them. Even still it ends up at 3pts or less. I personally love them, but they're not for everyone and bland without some kind of topping IMO.
IIRC Cedars hummus has a type of hummus (the original or garlic lovers, or both) that is only 1pt for 2 tbsp. I would chop up some fresh peppers and dip them for a snack.
I think there are 100 calorie "smart pop" microwave popcorn bags. Not exactly sure on the pts but again they should be low.
