What age did you switch to a booster seat in the car for your DC?
My DD will turn 4 in June and is just under 40 pounds right now.
and I see some boosters are just a booster and some have a back. I was looking into the ones with a back.
We currently have her in the Bitrax Marathon.
What are the different kinds?

DD is 5 and I'm not taking the harness off the Nautilus. She turned 5 in November.
I tried to keep her in the harness as long as possible. The Graco Nautilus has harness up to 65lbs and then it's a booster. The Graco Turboboost is also good.

Re: What age did you switch to a booster seat in the car for your DC?
I would keep a 4 year old in a 5pt harness. Most 4 year olds are NOT mature enough to sit still, upright, not slouch, etc to stay safe in a seatbelted booster seat.
Do you have a Marathon 70? If so, that seat should still work for you!
If it doesn't, I'd look into a combo seat that goes from a 5pt harnessed booster to a booster with a back to a backless booster. I know I'm waiting till June for the Britan Frontier 90 or Britax Pinnacle 90.

Dd1 was in harnesses until about 6.5 years old. She was in the high back booster (better belt positioning IMO) until almost 8 then a backless booster until 9.5 years old. (Her high backback expired otherwise sheI would haveyou just stayedsend in that) She was always tiny though. Didn't hit 4'9" until she was 13!
The longer you can keep her in the harnesses the better protected she will be. Personally I would look for a seat that you can harness to 65 pounds and then convert to a high back booster to use until she's big enough to just use the seatbelt.

We just put our 3.5 year old in the 5 point harness of the Britax Fontier 85SICT. He outgrew his marathon in height & we needed something that will get us until he totally ages out at 8. He absolutely loves the new seat.

Ok see that's the thing. I would prefer her in the 5 point harness but she's outgrowing the marathon in height. So there are boosters that have harnesses? I'm so confused!

Forward facing only seats (Combination seats) can be used with harnesses then convert to a belt positioning booster. Heres a list... (sorry I cant direct link from my phone)

Yup, Britax has 2, frontier 85 or 85 SICT. SICT has more protection but is a bigger seat in width.

On June 1st, Britax is coming out with the new Britax Frontier 90 & Britax Pinnacle 90. I'm looking into getting the PInnacle 90 for my DS!

Yes! I agree. We have two sets. Marathons are good to 65 pounds although I do need to check the height restriction. My boys are 40 and 44 lbs and love those seats. We also have the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 high backed booster which are fine, although they dont seem as comfy as the Marathons

My girls are 5.5 years old(47lbs) and 6.5 years old(49lbs). Both still in 5 point harnesses. No change here anytime soon.

Re: What age did you switch to a booster seat in the car for your DC?
My DD will be 7 next week. She is still in a 5-point harness. She has the Britax Marathon in my car, and the Graco Nautilus (I think) in DH's car. She keeps begging me to let her out, but I just keep telling her it is the law til she's 8. She cries and says I'm treating her like a baby, but too bad. I gave her a trial in a booster last year and she did not sit properly...she was turning all around, bending, all kinds of stuff I was not comfortable with. So, she's back in this. I may give her another try in a booster in a bit, but for now...nope.
