What age is appropriate for your DC to be in a bunk bed?

DH and I were debating this last night. I'm curious what other moms think...

We moved DS to a loft bed just before he turned 6. We waited a little longer than we would have liked, however, having him get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom was our concern. Luckily, he adjusted well.

DH say like 4 I can see Ryan OK with that between 4-5, but my concern would be if Colin was on the bottom and between 2.5-3 - would it be a PITA with him trying to climb up to be with Ryan

Clearly, we have too much time on our hands after we get our boys in bed so we work out the logistics of imaginary 3rd child

We were debating getting them a while ago, but have heard that they should be around 6. Well, at least for the top bed. We wanted them when the youngest was almost 3, but heard stories of why you should wait.

I'm actually ordering them today. My older son is 6.5 and younger one will be 4 in 2 weeks. Of course the older one will sleep on the top bed. They're a little nervous about new beds but they'll love them. With baby coming in November and she'll need her own room, we sold their Race car beds so they can get these and be able to share a room.

I think when my sister was looking to get my nephews bunk beds the salesperson said 6 is the reccomended age for the top bunk.

Yes, I have bunk beds and the warning on the top bunk says age 6.

We will have a 2 year old on the bottom bunk.

I remember when I was little being in a bunk bed at age 4, maybe younger, ahh the 80's.
