What can you tell me about dream feeding?

Can you dream feed a 5 month old?

When and how?

Do you take DC out of the crib? Lay them down right after? what if they have reflux? Does/did it work?

For whatever reason, DFing works like a miracle and babies don't need to be burped at all! I'd def try it and see how it works. 5 months is a little old to start, but you never know!

ETA: DF works best between 9-11pm (about 2 hrs after bedtime) and you should do exactly what you said, pick up DC, nurse, put down.... simple and easy. No burping needed.

Re: What can you tell me about dream feeding?

My DS is almost 4 months, we do it. I will generally do it around 11 before I go to sleep. I take him out of crib and lay him on my bed and just feed him. I have done both bottle and boob, both work Chat Icon He naturally just starts sucking.

I do still try and burb him and most times I can get a burp out. Then I just lay him back down Chat Icon If he needs a diaper change I would do that in the beginning. If he fusses a bit its ok b/c he will go right back down once is getting milk. Sometimes he is squirming all around but still asleep!!! It seemed crazy to me at first and I thought for sure he was awake but he wasn't.

Its as though you are beating them to the next feeding and they don't fully wake up so its easier to put them back down. Sometimes if he seems restless and is going to wake up soon then I will do it at that time.

I think its worth a try!!

Good luck Chat Icon

i started dream feeding around 4 months - i would just pick him up - lay him on the pillow and nurse - swap and put him to bed - all in the dark

i never burped but he did not have reflux

my friend was a book light - otherwise i would fall asleep

It didn't work for us. When DD is out, she is out! She would never latch on to the bottle.
