I was just thinking this. 
seriously! even my sister's DH is buying a 52" flat screen with some of their money
and he is VERY frugal and completely against impluse buying

I put other because frankly I dont know what we ended up doign with that money - it was either pay off some of our cc debt or put towards our condo.

to those that used it to pay for your wedding... just curious here is all...
how you did that?
Because all my wedding vendors wanted payment before or on the wedding day, I mean with the exception of a final pmt to the photographer everyone had to be paid, before we got any gifts.
To answer: into savings, we had just bought a house a few months before.

We used most of it to pay off debt. Some of it went to vendors and the rest into savings

almost all of it went back into the savings account where we took the money out of to pay for the wedding.
5 years later, after saving, we had a down payment for a house.

Ours was in savings for a year, then went towards the down payment and closing costs on our condo.
But now that we are in our condo, we're going to buy a nice TV and mount it over our fireplace. That will come out of the rest of the wedding money.

We invested it and doubled the money within a year.....
we then used some for house improvements and other misc. expenses.....

We didn't spend much on our wedding. We eloped and got married in Manhattan and had a small reception later that week.
The money we got we used to toward our apartment and the rest we threw in the bank.
Most of it is gone now though since we started with the IF treatments.
