Jen, honestly since the wall your bed is against is not symmetrical anyway since you have that one window, I don't think anything NEEDS to be centered over the bed. Then again, i'm not one that needs everything perfectly centered so others may disagree.
At first I was thinking to put the shelf over the bed (centered between the window and the left wall - not centered over the bed) with the wall words underneath that. Then on the other wall just do maybe three frames.
Then I thought of three frames on that other wall with the wall words underneath, but I think the shelf with the wall words underneath for that wall is the best idea (the last pic you posted in your first post).
And for over the bed since I don't think anything needs to be centered b/c of that window, what about just three simple frames centered between the edge of the window and the wall? You don't want to clutter all the wall space so I think something simple like this:
I like that idea Jess. Since I can't make the bed wall even on each side, this isn't a bad idea. Believe me I like things to be even, but sometimes you just have to say "oh well". And I really do like the idea that I posted with the shelf and the saying below it. This way the pics on the shelf will be of our wedding and honeymoon. I think I will do the wall with the shelf and saying first and then see about what other pictures I might still want up and then pick three for over the bed. I might just pick honeymoon pick and make then black & white or sephia.
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! All of your ideas have helped me make a decision.

I love the shelf with the words underneath it...the "update" picture is perfect. I can't wait to see how it turns out! I also like the three pictures above your bed, it adds some balance in the room.

Re: What Do you think? Master Bedroom Ideas (w/pics & poll) UPDATED w/more pics
I don't care for the words under the shelf but I kind of like the option with the 3 pics. The words IMO def will look off if they are not centered over the bed. Centered on the wall itself will look off. I'm not a "must be 100% symmetrical" person but I do like a certain amt of balance. I think the eye needs it. But I'm sure you will find what works for you. You can always change it if it doesn't work. Post pics of what you finally decide to do. I have a similar set up in my BR but I think my BR might be bigger (longer from the window to far wall where the bed is)

I'll post pics once I'm done with the room. I think I'm going to do one wall at a time, this way I can judge if I want or need more in the room. I'm also going to rehang the curtains I think. The rod is out further from the window trim. I'm going to hand the rod right next to the window trim and we are going to put up crown molding. I have a little bit of room with the nightstand and bed to move over from the window, so I'm going to try that too. Thanks for your feedback.

Re: What Do you think? Master Bedroom Ideas (w/pics & poll) UPDATED w/more pics
have you considered putting the words up above the shelf and pics, closer to the ceiling? I'm not so sure i like the words under the shelf, but it might look nice if you put it higher up on the wall far enough above the pics, but still below the ceiling line.
I think you should also keep the wall above the headboard blank for now, as it may look a little 'forced' if you try and put pictures up there when the bed isn't fitting in the space as well as it could (not your fault, i understand the way the room is set up)

I like #1 best. I feel the other options make the wall too busy and take away from the text on the wall.

Re: What Do you think? Master Bedroom Ideas (w/pics & poll) UPDATED w/more pics
thanks to "Otherme" I moved the wording around. And thanks to CaMacho, I put three pics above the bed. I know it's not for everyone, but it's growing on me. I will put the shelf and saying on the one wall first and then see if I want to hang the three pics on the other wall after a week or so of getting used to it.
So how about this?
I might have to play around with the height of the shelf and saying.

Y'know, I make myself laugh because every updated picture you put up I like better than the one before....so I guess that means...dont trust my judgement

Now I'm kind of undecided. I like Option #3....but I also like the shelf with the wording underneath now.
Sorry, I'm not much help. Good luck!

I really like these layouts...But something I just noticed when I look at the 3rd pic is that the space is really tight between the wall and bed. How deep would the shelf be?

It will only be a picture ledge. I believe they are only about 2-3 inches deep. It should be fine. Thanks for looking out.

Glad to be of help! Seeing the layout, i definitely like the words above the shelf. Would you consider putting them even higher up, closer to the molding? sort of line the bottom line of the saying up with the curtain rod..
either way, i think the time you're putting into it will pay off!!

I can try the words higher, but we will have to put the crown molding up first and see from there what looks the best. Thanks for another idea.
Believe me I hope all the time I'm putting into it will pay off in the end.

Re: What Do you think? Master Bedroom Ideas (w/pics & poll) UPDATED w/more pics 3-12-09
OK here are my options......
I have OCD about things being centered, but I know there isnt anything you can do about the bed placement. If it were my room, Id remove the window treatments bc I think the fabric behind the headboard only emphasizes the off balanced bed.
Instead, I would put a cornice canopy centered above the bed and across the wall so that at least head on the bed is visually centered on something and it would de-emphasize the fact that its over the window. On the windows, I would do plantation shutters, in either white so it receds into the moulding or to match the furniture depending on the look you want.
Here is an idea......although I wouldnt do mosquito netting.
Then in between the fabric on the canopy I would do the quote with your wedding picture. Maybe a shorter quote though.
I would DEFINITELY do the shelf with pictures on the other wall.....LOVE THAT. Im not done yet, but thats what I have so far.

Re: What Do you think? Master Bedroom Ideas (w/pics & poll) UPDATED w/more pics 3-12-09
OK, OR.....
what if you hung a rod across the length of that wall and had the curtain swag across the center, then down the left of the bed and the right of the window.......then you could do your quote and wedding picture under the swag.
Example....although this is WAY to formal and the fabric is hideous, this is what Im picturing just on a larger scale.....
Or you could not swag across the center and just drape down the far right and left side. The from the rod in the center you could do the quote vertically and on either side do a collage of picture frames hung on ribbon, say 3 in a row on the same ribbon.
Like this only actual frames and not a decal, LOL
Still thinking.....

Re: What Do you think? Master Bedroom Ideas (w/pics & poll) UPDATED w/more pics 3-12-09
what if you just did a wall of curtains.....in a gorgeous fabric, not like the one here.....but same idea, still hung the frames with wedding pics on ribbon or filament wire so the look like they are floating, from the rod so they were in front of the curtain? You could do the quote above it.....or as someone (sandy maybe??) suggested, move the quote under the ledge.
This way, youd have NO IDEA the bed was over the window at all. You could just put a tie back along the window side, so if you wanted to let the light in you could......
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj424/allbowerpower/Bedroom%20Master/Katie020.jpg" alt="External Image" />
again hideous fabric, but you could do something like this across the entire wall, with sheers in the center so that the light could filter through the window but the drape balance out the bed.....still hanging the frames from ribbon on the rod, quote under the shelf on opposite wall.

what about fabric panels that came out from the wall and along each side of the bed, just a foot or so. Then you could do wall sconces next to them to tuck them behind when you want to access your nightstands, do the quote with wedding pic in betweem

If however, you dont want to do fabric on the wall....I think you need something on your nightstand with height and drama to balance out the heaviness of the window on the opposite side..
maybe some really cool tall branches in a funky vase.
