What the heck am I gonna do? ( vacation related )
So a smy luck would have it..The transmission went on our Mini van tuesday. ( which is only 9 months old, but a used car, so we are SOOL) ...So , not to mention the HUGE HUGE amount of $ it is costing us to fix..
We are suppossed to leave for vacation SUNDAY.
The Van wont be ready till Wed. night.
I dont know what to do?!
The hotel I paid upfront, NON refundable( of course! )
Now keep in mind we have 3 kids all in car seats, and luggage.
I guess we are gonna rent a car ( this is becomg a really LARGE vaction price tag)
But If I get a mini van, we are talking like $650 cheapest.
A mid size car is $350.
Anyone have a midsized car and can fit 3 car seats ( 2 infant carriers and a britax?) ...
This sucks

Honestly, I know you dont want to hear this but I wouldnt go.
I would suck up the hotel costs, I take that back......actually I woulc cry and plea to them about the situation and ask them if there was ANYTHING that could be done.
The rest wouldnt be worth doing, renting a minivan for that cost and then the additional costs for the car to be fixed, etc.
Its a lot and I feel like my vacation wouldn't be as fun.
IMO

I would rent a minivan or borrow one.
do you really need a minvan? Could you get away with a large car?

I would rent the van!
Maybe even a large car, like a Camry?
Or a crossover? (not sure if they rent those, or, if they'd be cheaper, but, worth a shot).

Full sized car $277 ish
Not sure we"d fit
Suv is $550

have you tried talking to a supervisor at the hotel and asking to just change the dates? if they still don't budge i'd rent the mini van and try to enjoy it, u all deserve it.

without knowing your financial situation at all I say...
Life it short...rent the minivan.
Can you do a priceline type of thing maybe?

I know we rented a full size once, got a grand marquis...that thing was HUGE, would def fit 3 carseats.

I'd rent an SUV or minivan. Check out Avis they are usually the cheapest.

We used priceline for our vacation(leaving tomorrow) and to rent an SUV, we are paying $225 for the entire week! Give it a shot....you name your price..put in way low...we did $25 a day and it was accepted!!

Try doing $25 for a week. I know with car rentals, sometimes it's cheaper to rent by the week than by the day. Just an idea.
Good luck and I hope it works out! Otherwise, I would call the hotel. It couldn't hurt.

Why is the hotel non-refundable? Usuallly hotels usually allow you to cancel 24 hrs in advance.

Ok I lied, I must have done $45 for SUV...I just tried $50 a day for SUV and it was approved, so OK....Problem solved. I'm now offically BROKE as possible, but were going on vacation.. LOL
