what was your out of pocket cost for hospital/delivery
I am hoping to get an idea, just a guesstimate, how much was your out of pocket costs for delivery.
DH and I are trying to figure out what to put in our Flex spending account (and of course it is due tomorrow morning) so we are trying to figure out what to put away this year.

$300 copay
ETA: I never paid anything for my OB visits, no copays. My vaginal delivery (induction, epi, 3 days in teh hospital) totaled almost $13k, so the $300 copay wasn't too bad in the long run!

it varies widely.... in my case it was only $100 call your insurer.....

$0 for  (Oxford insurance at the time)
$500 hospital stay co-pay for  (I think I had Cigna at the time, if not, it was Blue Cross Blue Shield, I can't remember)

UHC $150 co-pay for Labor and delivery and for the baby's stay.
Do you have insurance?

We had/have a $350 hospital co pay. We were anticipating on only have to pay it once (for the birth of Ryan).
Little did I know I'd be hospitalized twice before I went into labor. So....$350x3=$1050

Our insurance when we had DD was c r a p p y. We ended up having $3500 in our of pocket costs  .
Our insurance now is much better. Our costs should be below $100.
There is no way for any of us to tell you what your out of pocket costs will be, b/c all insurance policies are different and can vary greatly. You need to call them directly.

thanks ladies.
We do have insurance, unfortunately the FSA is due at 9 am so I will probably not be able to reach the insurance company prior to that tomorrow. I am familiar with our plan, we have a deductible so I am also accounting for that also.
I appreciate everyone's response.

$0. C-section, 5 day hospital stay. Empire BC/BS. I paid 1 copay of $15 for all my OB visits.

We have BCBS. I did have some trouble getting them to pay the anesthesiologist's bill which was HUGE, but they did pay it in the end.

The only cost I incurred was for choosing a private room at $250 a night. So $500 out of pocket. If not, it would have been $0.

i had aetna and my whole pregnancy i didnt have any co pays or anything but the delivery cost me $1,700 and i just got a bill for the epi thats something like $6000  but im gonna fight that cuz theres no way i can pay it.

$4000 for l&d. It ended up costing $6000 for the pregnancy because I had genetic testing done on 12/31/06 and then had my DS in 2007 so I ended up having 2000 for each year
What you should look at is your ut of pocket max for both you and the baby and see if they will charge for both you and the baby. Under our policy they do. It is awful.

I would fight that...was the anethisiologits (spelling) in net work?
