When did you bring your newborn out to places

DD's ped told us at her one week apt that I wasn't supposed to have people over other than say grandparents and us and not to let people hold her. He told us to take walks but not in the heat. He said not to take her to say a mall or other place with any crowds for a while (didn't specify how long).

How long did you wait to take your newborn out - it is really too hot during the day for walks or to take her to sit at the pool with her grandparents - so we are basically stuck at either our house or at my parents house. DH doesn't get home until late and I am not allowed to drive yet so I am still relying on others for help.

I can only read the same books to her so many times, play with her for so long on the activity mats, swing, bouncer, etc. I would love to go to the mall and walk but I don't want to do something detrimental to her health.

I had people over, including children, immediately

I had her out at the store at 4 days old and at the mall at 2 weeks

I wouldn't take her out in the extreme heat of the last two days but starting tomorrow it is supposed to be nicer so I would

My Dr said 6-8 weeks for crowds. I took him to a restaurant (Communion party) at 6 weeks.
My son was born in April so I took him out on nice days from the beginning. He didn't go to the mall until about 8 weeks.
We had people over and visited people without children from the beginning.

We had loads of people see her in the hospital and once we got home we got more visitors. We had her out and about within a week.

There were people at my house non stop the 1st week I brought him home. Just make sure noone is sick and everyone washes their hands. I started bringing him out to the stores with me at around 3 weeks.

I never understood why dr's get so crazy about germs and stuff. They are born in hospitals where there are tons of germs and visitor's coming to the hospital's arent screened. My son is over 3 weeks old and never has even had a sniffle.

I went to restaurants and the mall before 6 weeks. We went during off-hours. We ate lunch at 2pm and were at the mall during the day. I'd put her carriage cover up so no one could breathe on her. It felt good to get out.

I'd go for plenty of walks too. It was in January so I was limited to mid-day when it was the warmest and for brief walks. In this heat, I'd go in the early morning or late evening hours.

I had people over right away and went for walks all the time. I took him out to stores at 1 month old.

we went to the store at 1 day old. She stayed in her carseat and no one touched her. We went out to dinner at 7 days for my birthday and had family come visot when she was a week old. No one tried to touch her in public so I felt like she was safe. She didn't get sick untill she was 4 months old.

Walks started the day after we came home from the hospital. I waited 2 months to take him to stores .

Both DD's, had at least 8-10 people a day visiting me at Hospital and at home for a week.

DD #1-1st trip to stores 1 week old
DD #2 1st trip to stores 4 days old

My girls are both warm weather babies.

I was a nervous 1st time mom, so I waited the 8 weeks until I brought her out. I'm sure with my 2nd, I'll be out and about much earlier.

I waited until her first shots since it was flu season.

I've gone out on walks and we've had a number of people over and around her. But I'm waiting for the 1st round of shots to really get into the thick of things in public.

I waited 8 weeks with my first (flu season) and 6 with my second.

I know I'm in the minority, but they are so little and helpless that the idea of them getting sick scared the bejezus out of me.

I took her out at around 2 weeks. We went to Target, the mall, the park, the petting farm. she was at work with me at five weeks. I never let anyone touch her, she stayed in her carrier and I always washed my hands. She never got sick. I would go stir crazy if I sat in the house for 2 months!

I had a winter baby, so I waited until she was 2 months to take her out. We had people over, but that was her only exposure to the outsde world.

He was out in public a couple of days after he was born. People looked at me funny and made comments, but I had to get stuff for him and I didn't have help so what could I do.

We've been taking her out a few times a week since she was about 1.5 weeks to lunch but it's always to non-crowded places and she is always covered completely in her stroller with the sunshade completely covering her.

I waited 2 months to take her into stores, but went for walks right away (born in July). We also went for a lot of drives and to my IL's house and my parents house for visits. I always made EVERYONE wash there hand before they held her.

We were out with DD when she was 4 days old to look at houses and to the grocery store. I didn't stay cooped up and I had people over. I was just cautious with keeping her in the infant carrier when out and making people wash their hands if they held her and making sure no one who was sick came over.

DS was born in September and it was still warm, so the day after we got home we were already out for walks and within 1 week I was at my parents and inlaws with him.
