When did you first give water?

How old was your dc when you gave them water for the first time?

Did you give it in a bottle or a sippy cup?

At what point in them day did you offer it? Do you give it because you think they are thirsty, or if they are cranky and a bottle soothes them, or just whenever?

How much do you offer?

DD is 5 months and has never had water. I will not be offering her juice when she is older, I orefer she sticks with water (other than formula or milk) so I thought it would be a good idea to start introducing it but I am nervous about how and when and how much to offer.

My DS is 5 1/2 months and I just started...He kept grabbing for my water bottle and glass! so now I give him sips out of my cup, and when I feed him cereal, I put a sippy cup on the tray and he grabs for it and I help him drink out of that...I don't think he gets much actual water...but getting the hang of it is good.

At my sons 6 weeks check up my son had gained almost 5 pounds so my ped suggested I give him some water between feedings. My baby loves it! He is on a baby diet already lol

with both boys i gave camomille tea since at about 4 weeks of age in btwn feedings. - not a full bottle - just 2-3 oz a day..

when ds1 was eating solids i always gave him water to drink after his meal..

my ped was ok with it when i told him i was giving it to both of them..

definitely has helped with ds2 colic

ds1 is 19 months old and all he drinks is water.. a couple of times hes tried juice and he does not like it...

we didnt really give water until 7/8 months in a sippy.

occasionally in a bottle if he was sick or needed more hydration when he was younger

I started at around 3 months. He was having a bit of poopy trouble and his ped told me that 1-2oz/day would help a bit. I don't really give it to him regularly, though.

now she gets it more often...in a sippy

3 1/2 months in a bottle only about 2 oz

2 months. both were June babies and gaining too quick. Ped rec'd

DS is 7 1/2 months and I don't give it to him unless it's with his formula (we use Powder).

Ped said he is getting plenty of hydration during the day so did not want him filling up on water and would rather him get the nutrition

just really for experimentation at 6 mo when I started solids...with their meals to associate water with meals!

DS first had it around 6 months, from a plastic cup but now we usually give it to him in a sippy after meals (cereal, veggie, etc). He still doesn't really get the sippy so we have to tip it up for him.

When we started food. 6 months in a sippy. She picked it up so quickly by 6 1/2 months she was sipping from a straw.
