When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
The twins are 14 and 1/2 mnths and nap time is harder...they just play...cry...fuss for so long before falling asleep now....and don't sleep as long.
I'm thinking they are ready for one nap (I'm NOT!)
So how is it done? Do you extend the morning nap? Afternoon? TIA

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
13 months, only because that's what daycare did. He was napping from 9-12 and 2-4 before that At daycare they would put them down at 11:30/12 and let them sleep till about 2:30. He never slept that long at daycare - maybe 1-2 hours - but at home he was good for a 3-4 hour nap!
Transitioning to one isn't bad, you might even get one longer nap I would just follow their cues. If they are fine at their regular naptime (say 10am) but starting to get fussy and cranky at 11am, put them down then.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
John did it himself around 10 months.. just stopped taking his second nap.. I tried and tired and tried.. but he wouldn't have it. I'd go with DC's cues. The one nap will become longer naturally.. and move toward the middle of the day.
We put John down around 11:30-12:00 after bf and he sleeps 2 hours sometimes 3.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
When DD was 15 months, I knew she was ready also....her afternoon nap was starting to affect her bedtime. She usually napped from about 10:30-12:30 and then 3:30-6. Her bedtime is 8pm and with her sleeping so late, she would roll around for close to an hour before falling asleep. So it just so happened that we went to FL on vacation and 2 naps would have put a huge damper on the trip. So I put her down at about 11:30 and she slept 3 hours. Since then, we've been on 1 nap. Usually anywhere between 2 & 3 hrs and now when I put her to bed she is asleep within 20 minutes.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
15 months - they started fighting either the morning or afternoon nap, so I started putting them down a little later each day until we got to around 12:30. I had to separate them for awhile because they would fool around instead of going to sleep.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
I did it around 14 months. He was fighting the morning nap. I tried to keep him up as long as possible and then put him down for nap. LIke day 1 it was until 1030, then 11 and gradually over about a week we got to about 12 or 1230 which is when he goes down now.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
DD is 14 months (will be 15 on the 23rd) and has been between 1 and 2 naps for the past month and a half. On days where she just has one, it's not enough. Days she has 2, sometime it affects her bedtime (pushes it back later) but she at least can make it through the day. I'm trying to push her AM nap later- until around 10 or later. She has NOT been good with this transition and absolutely been the hardest nap transition of all. Wish I had more advice but I'm right where you are Good thing is if it is one nap it's usually at least 2 hours which I am NOT used to!!

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
I think I got lucky...DD just transitioned to 1 nap at 21 months. They started it at daycare in Sept. At first, she still wanted the 2 naps at home, but she really went to 1 nap here last month. Her naps used to be at 9:30 and 1:30. Now, we just keep her up until noonish and she sleeps about 2-2.5 hours.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
DS1 was around 9-10 months. I joined stroller strides and I would drive around so that he would nap in the car before I got there. After a while, he just stopped falling asleep so I he stopped napping in the am. He would take one long nap in the afternoon. DS2 is 10 months and his morning nap is in the car at some point while I run errands and drop DS1 at school. He only gets to sleep for 20 minutes or so and then he takes a 2 hourish nap in the afternoon. If we are home, I'll put him down for an am nap, but I prefer him not to sleep for too long, because I like them both to nap together. I think the easiest way to transition is to be out all morning so DC is too busy to nap.

Re: When did you transition to 1 nap and how did you do it?
I think Lola is losing her 1st nap, which was always 2 hours after she woke, so at about 8/8:30...sometimes I'd push it to 9 so she'd go in after I took bella to school.
But that was when she was waking at 6. Lately she's been waking up at 7, so I'm going to be trying out if she can make it until her 2nd nap, which is about 1, when Bella takes hers.
