When did you turn your DC forward facing in carseat?

I know legally you can do it at 12 months and 20lbs but I'd like to hold off for as long as possible. How old was your DC when you turned them forward facing and what made you do it?

You can do it for as long as your seat can. DS's car seat rear faces up to 35 pounds. I hope to keep him that way for a long time. He is 20 pounds now at 11 months old.

DD was 27 months. I turned her b/c I bought a new car and had to move the carseat into the new car.

I'm waiting until she hits 30lbs to turn her around which may be in the next month at this point.

30lbs is the max rear facing for mine.

She is now 25mo old and still rear facing.

DD was 18 months.

MY DD is a year and she is not even 20 pounds yet so she will be rear for a while, lol

DS is almost 22 months old. I have no plans on turning him around yet. I'd like to wait until he's at least 2 years old.

I haven't turned my DD yet. She is 21 months, but still a peanut only 24 pounds or so. She doesn't mind sitting rear facing so I am going to keep her that way as long as I can!

DS was turned around at 11 months after I had DC#2. We wanted to get him use to sitting on the opposite side of the truck & also he was throwing fits everytime we put him in rear-facing. I do not regret my decision at all.

Jack was 15 mnths, i would love to keep Ty rear until at least 18 mnths

DS was turned around at 15 months. But this was a couple of years ago when the recommendation was 1 year and 20 pounds.

Now that we have DD and the recommendations have changed, I plan on keeping her rear facing as long as possible. She is currently 10 months and 21 pounds. But she will stay rear facing until at least 2.

Just wanted to add if I had known then what I know now, DS would have stayed rear facing much longer.

My DC are 21 months and rear facing. I don't have any plans to turn them around. Our car seats can be rear facing until 33lbs and they were 21 lbs only a couple of months ago.

i turned my ds around before 12 months...his legs where hitting the back of the seat so i was afraid that if i got in accident he could get hurt

but we was over the 20lbs

i haven't gotten to this point yet, but carsafetychris who works for nassau county said 2 years is the recommendation now.

I turned DS around at 1 year because that was the recommendation when he was 1, but he HATED to be rear facing and it was a battle getting him into the car seat. His legs are very long and his knees were in his chest. He was very uncomfortable. With that said, DD is a year old now and I have no plans to change her to forward facing at any time soon.

I have turned it around, then back... Sasha gets sick in the car a lot, but for safety reasons I wanted her rear facing... Now its forward facing again after another puke episode, and at 20 months and 26ish lbs, I think I may just leave it.

At around 14 or 15 months we switched him. It was the first opportunity I had to get it inspected.

A few weeks before she turned 1. We have a long commute each day and she was getting fussy being rear facing.

i haven't yet and my DD is 22 mths. She doesnt complain. I will turn it around when she reaches the weight limit for rear facing, which I think is 40lbs.

I think the new recommendation is at 24 months old. But for me, my kids were always too big for their seats as it is well before 12 months I had to turn them at 12 months. Their legs were so bent because they were so long. If this baby is just as big, I'll be turning her at 12 months as well because having your legs all cramped up like that can't be safe or comfortable. If I have to I have to.
