When did your appointments start becoming routine?
I have to say, I'm very calm all week long, surprisingly so. It's really just the morning of my sonos where I get shaky and I just want it over with. Besides that, I'm shocked with how well I've been handling the days in between. I know worrying won't change anything, so I just don't. (until the morning of - of course ) This has by far been a very calm pregnancy which I'm really happy about.
When did sonos start to become more about monitoring and less about "will my baby be ok" ?...... I'm nervous after a 17 1/2 week loss, that all my sonos from now till then will be this way, but I'm hoping my faith in everything being ok will ultimately take over. For those who were able to get to that place, when did it happen for you?
(I don't want to offend anyone here, but please only respond if you were able to get to the point where appointments DID eventually become a matter of routine and less about being in an extreme panic. I know all sonos are scary, but I just won't find a response like "I panicked from day 1 to delivery before every sono and never relaxed at all" to be very helpful)
eta: not saying that anyone shouldn't be nervous the whole time, I know I will be! I'm talking about extreme nerves... to the point of feeling ill in the waiting room and fearing you will go home with news that you will not be having your child. I don't mean the very normal nerves that I'm sure everyone has the whole way through!! For example - I want to get to the point where I won't feel it's necessary for my dh to be there "just in case".

Not until i could feel her move regularly... about 25ish weeks. It still doesnt take away the random moments of panic, but my appts are most definitely routine... there have even been times that they couldnt find her hb but i feel her moving and they see my stomach move...

I lost my first at 14w...so my "feel better" stage was after that mark...although, Im not sure one ever really stops worrying...it just gets to be a different worry once the baby actually comes :)
You will be fine!! xoxox

Ohhh I totally agree... I just mean that there's a difference between being nervous, and then being nervous and sitting in the waiting room taking deep breaths and trying not to get sick before the sono! I mean like extreme nerves... Which is what I've been feeling the morning of each appt so far.

Probably once I could feel her consistently, so maybe around 20-ish weeks. But I was definitely nervous the whole way through!

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
first let me say I definitely know the panic of which you speak..used to get pretty worked up before every sono and its just such a desperate feeling...
At 20 weeks I started to feel regular movement so I have noticed my anxiety to be so much less..that coupled with right now I am seen weekly(incompetent cervix with cerclage) so thats reassuring as well..
I just take it week by week.....

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
I honestly think I will be nervous until I hear them cry at delivery because with my first DS, at my 39 week appointment, my OB could not find his heartbeat for a full 5 minutes. Longest, most terrifying 5 minutes of my life. We decided then and there to do the c-section the next day. So I am always fearful..but I try to keep praying, thinking positive.

A 'desperate' feeling describes it perfectly!!
And thanks everyone, I think what I really meant to say is, when did you get over nerves at every sono where you feared you will get detrimental news that you are not going home with your baby. I feel like I just can't word myself right here or something, but I really appreciate everyones responses!!

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
I would say I started to believe I would bring home a baby around 16 to 20w. I had lots of freak outs the whole pg as u know, but I didn't hold my breath quite as hard after that point. Xoxox

Thanks Jenn This is exactly what I was looking for - an estimated time where I may be able to feel like I'm bringing home a baby and not worrying about what they may find at the next sono. I hate feeling this way. I hate that I had to have a loss at 17wks that made me feel this way. Ahh I hate the road that led me here, but I love the road I'm on.

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
I think I felt like I was really going to be a mommy sometime around when I felt DD moving regularly, which was around 22-24 weeks, because I had an anterior placenta. Also, once I passed 24 weeks, which is considered the "age of viability," I felt a lot less anxiety.

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
LOL dammit jackie say what you mean!!!! lol
Then my answer changes a lot, there is never a sono that i dont go in anticipating bad news... i dont think sono techs like me because i stare at them when they are doing it to see what faces, if any, they make!

I do that too!!! I used to stare at Dr.B especially because he would see the sono before me half the time (at Kofinas's office there's a screen on the wall for me to stare at! ) but it would make me nuts when he would just stand there contemplating the sono and not saying anything. I used to be like... "Well?"

This! And then I had a few panics in there also. THe blood clots in my leg at beginning of 3rd tri. Baby was fine through it all but I still paniced. And then water breaking at 37 weeks...Holy Hell I can't have this baby yet.
SO the short answer...NEVER!!!lol

That's basically what my RE said when I asked when I'm out of the woods!
(after my history, I should know better than to ask such a question!)

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
With my DS I would say I started to feel like it was really going to happen after the 20 week sono and they confirmed all organs looked normal. And as PP's have said, feeling him move was also reassuring. With this pregnancy, I'm not so sure, but that's a story for a seperate post.

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
I was starting to feel better around 20 weeks, but I ended up having a scare. Scared me back into being a nervous wreck again. I hope this pregnancy is totally uneventful!

When did your appointments start becoming routine?
With my 1st daughter, I didn't lose the feelings of panic until about 28 weeks. I knew at that point that a baby had a good shot at surviving outside the womb, so my mind eased up a bit then. I had a MC prior to her and there was a good chance of losing her because of a huge subchorionic hematoma. So the beginning of my pregnancy was rough.

Re: When did your appointments start becoming routine?
I know i dont really meet your criteria for response as im PG and scared $hiiiless.
I havent really told anyone and get mad at family when they talk about anything baby because im not sold yet.
I havent let myself get excited but i want to... Guess its just self preservation.
If you find a trick or a date to look forward to pls let me know. Im so tired of hearing i made it out of first tri so im ok. Not sure about you but my uterus does not have a calendar in there so i still worry.
Im hoping that if and when i start to feel baby move i will accept it and be happy and calm..... Calmer at least

There is no criteria for response, of course this is a public forum and anyone is entitled to have their input. The only reason I put my little disclaimer is because I was looking for suggestions from those who were able to calm down and when that point happened for them. It wasn't said to offend anyone, I can assure you.
I am pretty sure my uterus does not have any special calendars inside either- or if it does, it at least skipped out on that 'low risk after first tri' memo as I lost my first baby at 17wks.
I am sorry you are so scared. We have clearly all been there. Hopefully you (like I have been doing) will find some comfort in the other responses to this thread and the support of the women on this board in general. After all, stress is not good for the baby. Best of luck.

I know you didnt mean anything from your disclaimer ugh what i meant was i didnt have real words of wisdom for you as im in the same boat you are. Sorry if i came off any otherway
Its hard for me as it seems like everyone around me is over my past loss and expects me to be too and im not and not sure i will be. Thats why i cant he happy about being in second tri.
Sorry. Im having a moody day and i wanted to be helpful in giving my experience and fears and i dont think it translated that way.
