When you gave DC cereal for the first time did you give him 1 tablespoon of cereal & then follow that with a bottle? How much formula did DC take in the bottle afterwards?

He normally takes 6 oz of formula right before bed but if we give him 1 tablespoon of cereal... how much formula should I give him afterwards? Maybe like 4oz?

I can't really go by him.. he would eat all day. He never cuts himself off from food.

I always fed cereal about an hour before bedtime. I BF, so I would nurse right before bed. I still nursed the same amount of time. My guess is offer the same amount of formula. The cereal is supposed to be in addition to BM/Formula, not supplement. Eventually they will take less feedings during the day, but that's over a few weeks, IMO.

I gave them their normal bottle amounts. It's my understanding that when you are first starting out, it's not really that they need the "food" but you are teaching them to eat solids - eat off the spoon, swallow something other than liquid, etc. They should be getting the majority of their nutrition from formula still. He will eventually level out.
