We used to but now that we travel sooo much it would be a big extra expense for us. If someone does an exceptional job we might leave some though. We do try to leave our rooms really neat so they have minimal work to do. I basically straighten up and organize things before we check out. :o)

I am embarrassed to say that I have never even heard of this..except being on a cruise? Also If I have to stay in a hotel more than one night I usually never have them come in to make my bed or change the sheets after one night..I just feel like thats wasting water and electric. Plus I dont like them in my room after I am all unpacked. One time I could swear I left my makeup and brush one way and I came back to find it placed different so the maid must have decided to freshen up and use my hair brush and perfume, so the next day I faced them a certain way since I suspected it was touched and came back again to find them used.. I even made sure there was no hair in the brush for proof!! I of course made a complaint and bought a new brush....so maybe thats another reason I dont like them in there..

we always do. It wasn't until a few years ago that my husband and i realize that a lot of people don't.
I personally will always tip. I wouldn't want the job of cleaning up after someone, so that alone means they get a tip.  Now if only i got a tip for cleaning up after my husband, my son and my brother who lives with us.
ETA: we usually tip $5 a day.

I always tip. when i went to DR and jamaica...the first day i was there i gave the maids things i had in the house i never used....like unopened lotions, perfumes, things like that. i also bring old clothes my daughter never wore or wore but are in good condition and give it to them...needless to say, i got a lot of free things because of that  and my room was cleaned a million times a day.....i also leave them $ at the end. i know they need the $ mroe then me and hubby

I allocate about $20 for tips for the maid when I stay at a hotel.

We always tip (as long as we remember).....
And it depends when...sometime we leave 5 bucks a day sometimes we leave like 10-20 bucks at them end..depending how long we are there.
But this past summer when we took DD to Sesame we stayed at Sheraton and it was so terrible for the first time we purposely left nothing.

No I don't. I mean come on now, we are paying to sleep in the room and use it, so part of that business is to have someone clean it.
