Re: Where is everyone buying bags to use in stores?

Bagging myself isn't a problem at Stop and Shop because I use scan it so I bag as I shop and never have to deal with putting the groceries on the conveyor belt or bagging.
I usually do self check out in Target too.
But the other day we went to a regular check out in Target and the guy was like a ZOMBIE. Moving so slow, the line was held up, the guy in front of us was actually getting pissed at how slow he was moving.... what a disaster.
Then he just expected everyone to bag too.
He was just a mess actually

Yeah I don't mind at the grocery store, where there is actually a large collection area. Target doesn't have a belt that runs to the collection area, and once you set your bags up on the collection area, and they put the stuff next to them, not IN them, there is no room. I complained on the Target FB page, and they were responsive.

And, when I made a comment, the cashier did say "well some people like to bag their stuff certain ways"....um okay, but maybe you should ASK the customers if they want to bag their own stuff. Just because I have to bring a bag, doesn't mean you have to do less work. I shouldn't have to pay .05 a bag for you to bag my stuff.

I bought my bags off of amazon... lotus trolley bags. Pricey but I’ve used them a few times already for big shopping trips and they have been such godsend. I can separate and pack everything so easily!!

Target is seriously the worst with this. It's the only place I feel uncomfortable using my own bags bc they make it so difficult. And if you let them use plastic forget it. They put one item in a bag and call it full. You can't win there.

Yeah, we do often just because I like my son with special needs to do all the work, so he can learn. But, lately the lines for self check out are LONG

Really? At Stop and Shop if you have booze, they just have someone come by and check your ID and put their code in and you're good to go.
Was this at Target?
They have people standing right there! They should be able to approve the alcohol purchase!

Yes, happened to me at target. The guy who was helped me doesn't usually do self check out and seemed a little flustered over things so maybe he jusy didn't know what he was doing? He did ring it up for me at a regular register as soon as I was done but it was still a pain so I've been afraid to try since then.

Re: Where is everyone buying bags to use in stores?

Amazon.

Check out a few of these:

ReBagMe Large Reusable Grocery Bags - 10 pack

BAGGU standard reusable bag - it folds really small and I keep it in my purse. It's been great for quick trips to CVS, Target, etc. when I forget my bags in the car. It's small and machine washable. It's great if you have kids and they take their coats off, hats, gloves, want you to buy random sh!t while you're out. You suddenly turn into a camel when you're with kids and have to carry all their stuff for them.

I also bought large plastic grocery bags from Amazon. A 100-pack for like $7. They are the same style that the sell in the supermarket now for 5 cents. I always re-used my plastic bags for random things, and I don't want to put milk, chicken, meat, etc. in my canvas bags.

Also Target pays you $0.05 for every bag you bring in from home. So I open the bag, put it right on the shelf where their plastic bags are, let the cashiers fill it, and keep replacing as the bags get full. If I'm quick, i use multiple bags, and get more money!

Oh and don’t get me started on paying for the restroom Chat Icon . That sucks here!

How much is it now ?
I remember as a kid Oma always making sure we had 10 pfennig tucked inside our shoes or pinned inside our pockets so we wouldn't lose it.

It depends.

It’s about 70 Cents at the rest stops on the Autobahn, but you get a coupon for 50 Cents off something in the shop. You can use the other ones along the way, but those are scary. One thing I can say is that they are clean. Someone cleans it for you before you go in, etc.

I do not subscribe to paying to use the restroom in a restaurant. Sorry, but that is ridiculous. I paid to eat your food and now you want me to pay to get rid of it? Yeah, no. I don’t make eye contact, and I walk on out.

I pay at the beginning of Oktoberfest, but then I usually forget after that. If I’m shopping and need to use the restroom in the store, I will sometimes give about 20 cents, but only if it is clean. If I walk in off the street, I give about 50 Cents.

I LOOOOOVE these cubes for food shopping!!! Everything fits in so nicely and they are easy to carry in the house. I scan myself as I shop, then pay and go!! They are awesome!!

For other shopping I have a mix of canvas bags that I had, reusable ones that I bought, etc.

I buy alcohol all the time at Target and I NEVER, EVER go to a cashier, ALWAYS self checkout. They just come over and look at my license.
