I like choice #1. I think it looks better, plus easier access to the WINE!  No chance of knocking over glasses as you slide out a bottle.

I wouldn't do choice #2 and here's why:
If you or someone else isn't careful when taking a bottle off the shelf, they could bang it into the wine glasses. I know I personally tend to get more careless when reaching for that second bottle of wine.
Agree. And for that reason I really love #1.

I like the look of #1, but I say #2 for the reason of you have options of what you want to display on the shelf with the glasses. With #1, you are limited since you have a certain amount of space between the 2 shelves.
